I checked it out, it is a filter in the bolt. Couldn't remove the filter, but it looked shiny clean so I put it back and left it alone, everything is running ok anyway but I wanted to check it while I was working on the car...

Did you remove the battery and Power steering pump, or did you have good access with a long reach socket, and maybe a flexi joint or UJ on the socket set?

With these jobs, you start them as a preventative maintenance project, where it has been fine, in my case... for all those years, and disturb it only to create further problems... only wishing you had left it alone.:doh
The reason I think it needs checking, is it doesn't seem as lively as it used to be... or so it seems...

access was easy - I had already removed the radiator/water pump etc, so I undid the power steering pump and moved back a little and used a long extension..

I like preventative maintenance, and if an issue occurs, I fix that!

Amateurs ;)

I've even provided pictures of how you can do it with everything in situe [emoji14]

BAH!!!

anyway, I needed to mostly empty the coolant system and flush the rad, so it made sense for this project to just remove the lot!
