Hi

T2 when you drive about 2 mile the thing starts staling/cuttig out Mal light on but go's out start again no problem but now I think because warm its cuts out every time now i have to keep reving. At junctions.

Glen

cutting out

hi have you checked or changed the fuel filters

If you changed it recently is it seated correctly.

dependent on the fuel system you may have a min i filter in the banjo bolt at the diesel pump.

i am sure a TDI owner will be able to advise better

that smells of CKP sensor failing mate. you can see it through the viscous fan, right side front of engine, small round black magnet.

fyi, the hot engine makes it fail. youll probably find it fine untill warmed up.

sorry, but its not a cheap part either!

Clivvy's right, read the fault codes as per downloads. If you have the same type as me and Clivvy you'll have to buy one from a stealer too.

I dont want to be a kill-joy, but id seriously consider avoiding a second hand one. I tried two second hand ones, and neither worked, I only got results when I fitted a new one. Up to you of course, if you can get a used one, form a low mileage car cheaply, then its worth a shot, but a new one is around £190.

Thanks Guys

Did think crank sensor tonight it did some over reving as well when you stop it cuts out but ok when cold is it worth taking off and giving it a clean on forum did read Andrew page sell them ??????

Glen

there are some on ebay for 2.5 navaras it might be worth checking part numbers with the seller,u never know!

euro car parts are advertising " every part for every car " .... no they dont , i asked if they had a radiator for my mistral :augie

yes mate, remove and clean, it WILL be covered in oil, but if you say all is well cold, then im 99% convinced its on its way out if car is stalling. A garage will tell you otherwise, they will tell you car wont start if crank sensor is faulty, well, they are mistaken!! Anyway, its so easy to remove and clean (just a little tight and DONT lose your bolt!)

Andrew pages dont sell them mate, they will tell you they do, but what they supply is the WRONG connector, I spent a lot of time sourcing mine, in the end i had to go to the Nissan Dealer in Halifax near me, I figured even though it was expensive, I was spending more time/money arsing about!

Thanks

Thanks

Is it just the one bolt and when re fitting back is it easy to refit no special way it go's back will clean Tuesday night.

Glen

one bolt, but you need to fit it back the same way if you can due to the length of the wire (mine was a bit tight). I believe there is actually two bolt holes present, butif you can put back in the same way round thatd be better.

id say three miles isnt enough. when i had this issue, it only went wonky when engine temp was at normal, so that was after about 10 miles driving. so for me, i could get to work, and back later in the day without an issue, but when i had to go get hay and food from the horse place, over 10 mile away, it would begin running a bit poorly, almost stalling or just stalling randomly.

its all to do with the magnets in the CKP not withstanding the heat from the engine, because the magents have lost their effectivness. this screws up the signals to the ecu. so yeah, you will find it fine while the engine is cool...

I can see now why the 2.7 TD is more reliable, less sensors to go wrong.

Having the extra power on the TDi is still a greater benefit, and being a member of this site, you get the right information and better diagnosis than taking it to a main stealer.... :thumb2

when I had my ckp sensor issue, I never went to the garage with it, I came here BUT I did "test" the garage i used at the time, and they were adament that it couldnt possibly be the ckp sensor failing, regardless of the ecu giving me the codes and regardless of the symptoms I was having. I admit, issues liek this can have so many causes, but this site really can help elliminate so many so quickly!

With this site, you get several hundred people looking at the problem, who all drive the vehicles every day, so several thousand hours of experience.

How can a tech at a garage diagnose the problem in 10 seconds, plus 5 seconds for the sharp intake of breath, then you know it's going to cost.
Most dealers use substitution to solve a problem, and it's always the last part they try that fixes it, but you have to pay for all the other parts that they incorrectly diagnosed as being faulty.

Always ask for old parts when parts are replaced, but some may have been "accidentally" damaged on removal.
It's been known to connect some electronic parts to 240 volts and they no longer work. :doh

if it wasnt for this club, my car would have either cost me well over a grand to fix at the time of my troubles if i had gone to garages, instead its cost me probably less than £500 for all the various parts, ckp, no1 injector, starter, ignition, shocks, K&N, tyres, ARBs, steering relay etc. all diagnosed by the club/myself, and the engine stuff done by myself thanks to the great advice and guides. awesome.

issues liek CKP, well, they are the sort that cost you £200-£300 at a garage, No1 injectors probably similar, its crazy, using this club, you pay the cost of parts!:clap

Great club

I joined in 2004 only about 50 member, back in the days of sharky and Mav, so I must have saved a lot of money over the years to be fair my 2T has been very good, but the last 3 month its showing its age, We are lookng for newer one 2004 Maybe, but you never no mine has been so good it might be worth spending some money on it high mileage now 150.00 but I love it. running to tip picking things up fridges beds double people snow. so many reasons too keep I only run 6 month my other car is MX5 for summer thats been the same love it. A great owners club as well would be lost with out both.

Glen

its good to hear you have a little MX5, im a huge Mazda fan. Ive got an MX-6 and an MX-3, was kinda hoping for an old MX-5 to do up and cherish but we ran out of drive space when we bought the caravan, oh and money!

Ive never driven an MX-5, but heard good things, and if its anything like the MX-6, it must be awesome. I love my MX-6, but I have to sell it. Ive put everything into that car, so mechanically its very good indeed, the V6 is just astonishing! My little MX-3 is the 1.8 V6, and proving, as with every mazda ive owned, to be so very reliable, great cars. I used to have a 323F as well, white GLX 1.5 and the engine was the quietist ive ever heard on any car, just superb! Those early to late 90's Mazdas are probably, in my opinion, the best cars Mazda have ever done, and that KL series V6 is probably one of the best V6's ever!:thumbs
