If you are having carpet dont put cable between gripper and wall the space is for the carpet fitter to bolster the carpet into so you would lose the tension on carpet A better idea is to sandwich cable between A second strip of gripper easy to do no mess no pulled up floorboards or holes in floor :thumb2

ahh i see what you mean, good idea, ill make sure either way NOT to put cable between gripper and wall, because i had thought of doing that!! I suppose my other option is to cut a small groove into the floor boards-although i'm going to look into pulling up a few as we are lifting the laminate soon anyway for the carpet to be laid.
