This is becoming a money pit! £400 later and the light is still coming on.

On advice initially we replaced the wiring on the front drivers side abs sensor thinking that was the problem, but no. So I bit the bullet and bought a new sensor (£200 dealer only!), that went in yesterday, but light still coming on :-(

Very depressing.

Anyone any ideas on what next?

Fault code is 21.

Ta.

Also....

Just out with the mechanic, and we have nailed things down a bit more:

All wheel sensors working fine, the computer plugged into the brain says so, even when driving and braking.

A pattern has emerged as to what occurs before the light comes on: From behind the dash, the the left hand side of the cluster (effectively behind the actual light) when driving, particularly when accelerating, there is a small clicking and mechanical whirring noise. It's has a distinct start to the noise then it dies away. Total time of noise is 1-2 seconds max. Immediately before the light comes on there is a definite click in the same pitch as the previously described noise.

It sounds as though something behind the dash is trying to activate the light to come one, it fails on the first few attempts (clicking noise followed by the whirring noise) then it succeeds (clicking noise then the light on, no whirring noise).

So, the questions are.....

1. Is there something is this region of the dash like a relay or other such thing that has to trip before the light comes on?

2. Does any of this sound familier to anyone else?

Baskie why not at least whip off the instrument cluster - its pretty easy, just a few screws, and might reveal a bit more.....in fact if you disconnect the cabling you can remove it altogether and drive down the road without it...no speedo of course so go easy!

Dashboard now removed, noise still present! But we've traced it to something in around the area behind the radio. Also noticed that when the ABS is working and you jump on the brakes similar noises omit from this area of the dash, so there must be something in behind there that does something to do with the brakes!

We're going to start removing the radio console now, see what we can find. Anyone any idea if part of the ABS systems lives in this area?

Nothing there I'm aware of baskie, just goes back to the bulkhead behind, so could be t'other side in the engine bay?

I get a funny clicky/whirring noise from the wifes truck when ABS kicks in, drags on for a while sometimes....no light but suspect vthe ABS pump is knakd...

That's sounds familiar. Any idea where this pump is located?

Located the pump, it's not that making the noise, least i don't think it is, the noise is definitely coming from within the car.

Have discovered the transmission controller sits behind the air vents in the centre console and the ecu lives down by the ashtray. Could it be either of these?

Actuator solenoid?

Googling the fault code has thrown up this as one of the possible reasons. Anyone know where it is?

Found it, don't think that's the problem, least it's not the thing making a noise.

Gonna stop on this for now and see if you guys can come up with any ideas.

Worth mentioning the light comes on when accelerating fast and we initially got a fault reading of code 21, now it's reading 22.

Hi baskie have problems with my T11 abs on deceleration their is a G sensor located under the passenger seat think that is my problem this is also called a deceleration sensor have you got a manual ? it is listed under abs .gardener cars

Thanks for that. Have looked at the G Sensor, looks fine, but then what can you tell from looking at it!

We're still stumped!
