Hi guys, had a fault with abs kicking in when just driving in a straight and no braking. Suspected the nsf sensor as the wire normally breaks. Anyhoo the wire had broken but not able to fix a third time. So a garage has just replaced the sensor with a new one. I knew it was guess work as to the cause so not too worried about the garage really not their fault.

So i need to get it one a fault reader, one of the local members has a reader for the engine but not the abs. This is for the 1996 tdi lwb

So anyone near ish able to read the codes

I do not think consult reads ABS faults, another one for Rayf I think, Rick

Generically the Consult protocol communicates with most major Nissan vehicle systems, this includes the ECU, NATS, SRS, ABS and TCM. It is not limited to engine ECU only.
Unfortunately cost effective third party support for anything but the ECU is fairly limited, indeed ECUTalk is (possibly) the only ECU/Consult variant that supports the Diesel ECU's effectively.

The Consult 1 protocol communicates over the SCI-TX & SCI-RX lines on the diagnostic connector, pins 1&2 on the 14 pin and 12&13 on the 16 pin connector. All of the aforementioned modules are "sitting" on these comms lines and can be interrogated in the same fashion as the engine ECU.

The only cost effective readily available software I am aware of that "talks" to anything other than the engine ECU is:

and do not believe that currently extends to the ABS unit, although it has been suggested it may eventually support this.

Worskhop manual pages BR-65 onward show the ABS diagnostic procedure without Nissan consult.....

I knew Ray would have the answer, what would we do without him:bow:bow, Rick

Ok guys cheers for the answers. Sounds like its going to be a right royal pain in the bottom doesnt it.

Until we get to the "bottom" of it :augie

Cant you just disconnect the fuse? Thus rendering the abs inactive?

Atleast a temp measure.. :nenau

My mate read my abs codes on is diagnostic computer thingy.just plugged it in and hey presto.
Don't ask me what software/computer its.I know it cost him a grand thou.
