£100 or so to buy.....several threads on sussing out the wiring fault if thats what it is.....:thumb2

There's a sensor for each wheel.

Look behind front wheels or in engine bay and you'll see the wires going through the inner wings.

For some reason it seems to be the Near side Front that goes. The cable seems to break where the cable is thickest and clips to the suspension arm behind the wheel.

When mine went both times you get the crunch ABS Noise for no apprent reason and then the ABS light comes on and stays on. Last year when I last did mine I had to chase the wire all the way back into the sensor before I found good clean wire. I soldered replacement wires on and sealed with silicone and tape. Went right up to the plug in the engine bay with new wire. Nissan wanted over 200 quid for a new one!!! I was told that you can not remove old sensor from the hub without breaking it and I think that's probably right!!!

As far as I'm aware when the light is on ABS has gone in to safe mode which basically means it won't kick in and help you out when you need it.

you need to be on a wet or slippery surface - doesn't normally work in the dry except under very extreme braking conditions; when you apply the brakes hard you will feel a 'gravelly' vibration from the pedal - sounds bonkers but when you feel it you'll know exactly what I mean.

I have just experienced a similar problem on my 2004 SWB Terrano. Took it to the local Main Dealer (Rowstock Nissan) who soldered in a longer wire as apparently even on new sensor units, the wire is too short? Has worked fine since, with no warning light coming on. Even better, they didn't even charge me as they said they wanted to use me as a test case!! So, not all Main Dealers are there to rip you off!!
