Hi guys, my abs keeps kicking in randomly even whilst stood still or moving touching the brakes or not. Last Autumn had the nsf sensor replaced because I had repaired the wire somany times it couldn't be repaired anymore. Anyway this didn't resolve the issue.
The car has been in a garage for the last couple days for a rear axle oil seal replacing. Whilst the guy was doing this it has become obvious that the osr abs sensor was bathed in diff oil, we are now wondering if this was the cause of the abs problem.
What do other people think?

id say it was a strong possibility jim , but then I know nuffin

If as you say, it does this while not moving, then there is no wheel rotation information coming from the sensor, so I doubt it has much to do with the operation of the sensor itself.
Possibly an inermittent connecion?

Oil, unless heavilly contaminated with stray ferrous material is also unlikely to affect the sensor, but only if the vehicle is moving.

I fixed my front at the weekend as the wire was corroded.
had to replace the o ring on one of my rears as oil was leaking from it so I assume the rears are in oil all of the time.:nenau
