Sounds like DLVA has made a cock up then, if it was mine I would be getting it sorted as per earlier post Re insurance cop out, Rick

exactly, non functioning MAF will do that, Rick

would the maf throw up a warning light if I unplugged it . because I did try that and nothing happened. it still missfired and no warning lights came on ?.

If the car runs the same with the airmass unpluged i would say airmass defo and i would change fuel filter aswell just for good measure pal

Mine just says TD as well so I think that's panic over :clap,
AS for insurance you cant be too careful, does everyone know you have to declare tow bars are fitted!!

sorry to keep on . but I have changed the fuel filter and put a diesel d-tox in the tank and now if I rev slowly its fine no misfire or smoke. but still if I put my foot down it starts to misfire and a puff of white smoke ? . my father in law says its the no1 injector sensor ? .I have no mi or warning lights on . anymore ideas from you good people

if this is at standstill and blipping the throttle from tickover then its normal. they all do it

air getting sucked in

as fuel is pulled to the engine you may not get a drip, but could have a darker area around the leak.

new 8mm pipe from tank to filter, did mine took an hour or so,

also there is a panel under boot carpet to top of tank. so you can get at tank / pipe better

please help . I thought I had sorted it out from misfiring but not . it was fine for about a month I have changed the all filters and maf plus check all pipes and had a new exhaust and I have been putting in injector cleaner in the tank and the misfiring had stopped so I stopped putting the cleaner in the tank and now about 2 tanks later and it has started to misfire and feels like the engine is holding back in the lower gears(1st and 2nd) again . but its not smoking so much and it gets better has the engine warms up I cant keep paying £17 for injector cleaner every tank . my father in-law said his has been doing it for 2 plus year and is normal they all do it . but to me there has to be something causing it . I would like to fix the terrano up and get it running and looking nice . I have no fault codes or lights on . I have been told its the number 1 injector (needle lift sensor) .but that would give me a fault code surely . please help

Strange that,if i unplug my M.A.F sensor. It goes like a f1 car(But i would need a diesel tanker/or a farmer with bio fuel)Following me.)Just another point on the M.A.F.Cleaning them does not always do the job.

I have tried a new maf sensor with little change . I have but in a bosch air filter and a new fuel filter . a good make one . plus I have had a garage put it on a code reader and no codes . I have checked all the rubber pipes and even checked the fuel lines . the only thing that stops it is if I keep putting injector cleaner in the fuel tank every 2 weeks .but that is costing me a extra £34 a month and with the fuel costing me £150 a month I would rather find out what It is and fix it

does the car run the same with the maf unplugged ?
where do you normally by your diesel from ?
i got a mondeo that runs shit on fuel bought from a supermarket, so i always buy decent fuel now.
it may cost a penny or two more, but car runs better

I take it you've checked for the mini filter in the banjo bolt, although it sounds more like overfueling.

Also, another misfire that was resolved previously: http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15790

I'm sure someone else ended up adding something to the fuel to solve their misfire too, can't find that thread though. I know veg oil people sometimes use a VERY SMALL amount of acetone to the fuel to help mpg/burn rates (something like 0.15% as too much will seriously harm seals and things)

the car misfire abit more with the maf unplugged . I get my fuel from Morrison . my local garage not the one that tested it said. if there is no codes it would be a try and rule out job and he said since I have put a new maf on with no change and checked all the pipes (fuel and air) and changed all filters . that the next thing would be the injectors and since you cant clean the no1 injector because of the needle lift sensor and It cost between £ 250 and £400 for one . I don't want to try his try and rule out way

I would buy some proper fuel, not from a supermarket,
the quality is not the same .
makes your car run crap .
have a few mates who said same

try this guide dude, really helps me with diagnostics

http://www.uniteddiesel.co.uk/diesel-engine-problems.php

look at the white smoke column. Personally, id be looking at your injectors asap because so far, you haven't, although you are right in that if the needle lift sensor was at fault it would throw up a code-but if it is just within limits, then it wont, but you can still get "poor" performance/white smoke etc

Check your glow plugs are functioning correctly, and as said, try some decent fuel, like Shell Ultimate Diesel, it wont fix your issues, but its no different (really) to adding injector cleaner every month.

Im assuming from previous posts you have already checked fuel lines, and made sure the filter housing is working correctly, but with that in mind, have you checked and cleaned the filter housing? there is the filter that slots into the actual fuel filter at the bottom with the sensor on it-ok its only for water in filter sensing but give it a clean none the less.

Are you confident your turbo is ok? Have you cleaned out the oil catch tank thingy at the front of the engine? has a round flat cap on the top, remove that and clean. Also, consider checking/cleaning your I/C, this gives you an opportunity to check the I/C is in good working order.

good luck!
