just a thought ....... isnt there 2 propshafts ? :nenau
yes their is 2 the front should only spin when you put it in to 4 wheel drive!!!! it only 2 wheel drive untill you PULL the leaver for 4 wheel drive!!!! get them to dissconnect the front 1 too to be sure not to fu.k anything up:thumbs

ok , i will insist they disconnect the props(s) before towing it

its only the rear. there is nothing to turn the front one . you got auto hubs on the front and transfer box not engaged . so just the rear

He's right just undo the back one, simples:D
However I've had autos in the past and towed them slowly:thumbs
Theoretically you can bump/tow start an auto if you get it up to around 40-50mph, or just down the hill here:lol

Tow Truck Towing
CAUTION:
I All applicable local laws regarding the towing operation
must be obeyed.
I It is necessary to use proper towing equipment to avoid
possible damage to the vehicle during a towing operation.
I Attach safety chains for all towing.
I When towing, make sure that the transmission, steering
system and power train are in good order. If any unit is
damaged, a dolly must be used.
I When towing with the front wheels on the ground:
Move both the gearshift and transfer levers to neutral (“N”

When towing, make sure that the transmission, steering
system and power train are in good order

:sly

Sorry I rather assumed you'd copied the blurb from the auto manual:augie
if not then my previous post stands, just tow it slowly TO THE BLOODY GARAGE :D
If they're doing 4x4 mods etc one would hope they've a bit of gumption about them. Let them get on with it and if it all goes pete tong we'll string them up with the ebay twonk to the back of BAT21's truck and drag them round town dangling at the end of a tow rope while driving over roundabouts, roses, gravel pits and fast moving water, then we'll ask them if they've had enough yet with the stereo up really loud and go round again:naughty
Then......................oh sorry it's pill time

As wildbri says, put the Hi/Lo leaver into the center position (Neutral), this will disconnect any drive from the wheels to the main autobox and just tow it.

The garage doing the fluid level check should know this :doh

:grouphugGood luck what ever you do is ok by me just want you to enjoy your truck:thumbs
Take care

he did say if they did that , that they would have to tow it slowly .... around 15-20 mph , its about 2 and a half miles from here to the garage , will that be ok ?

If its only 2 to 2 1/2 miles can you not drive it? I may be wrong but I thought the gearbox went tits up once warm after 20 or so ?

I know theyd want it cold but then they can have it over night to chill and no worries about towing :nenau

the gearbox seems to work when it wants , but it seems to work " better " when warm .

whilst i appeciate the groups concerns for retribution , may i ask that my wishes are observed ? ,as ive said , i have learnt a very expensive lesson , and thanks to the amazing generosity of this group i can see light at the end of the tunnel , i am not a vindictive person , if my decision means i lose the respect and friendship of this amazing group , then as much as that will be devastating , i have made my decision , however , i have no control of others activities , but please bear in mind that this " man " knows where i live , knows i have no chance in a confrontational situation , knows my phone number , also knows that our lass works near his house . if this also means i have to repay your amazing act of generosity , then i will , i hope you understand and respect this message .

kind regards and many sincere thanks

pete ( briggie )
