Hi all, I need your advice/experiences with 7" tablets. I need one for in the truck to run mapping package, so needs GPS built in. Also bluetooth so I can connect easily to the cat/truck hi-fi etc.
I bought one from Aldi but didn't do my research and it didn't have GPS on board :doh Sold that on fleabay and so want a replacement as cheap as poss :sly

Something like a nexus 7 should work nicely.

I've got MMtracker pro for android if you want it? It's online somewhere but think my mate still has it backed up. Works well with un-encrypted memory map files.

N7 is a good choice, but do figure your memory size requirements as they do not have an expansion slot for additional memory. Having said that, I think the latest breed come as 16G minimum.

Galaxy tablet is very clever. Check compatibility with the map app as I dont own one.

Nexus 7 great, but Galaxy 7 is very good and has expansion option - so may be the better choice.

the cheap ones from ebay are a bit risky, but don't be frightened of the more cheaper alternatives you can buy in UK shops. PERSONALLY, id be sticking to a brand device, Asus (nexus in particular) Samsung and Lenovo (8 inch, but ridiculous battery life and its on my to buy list)

ive got the galaxy tab 3 in the 7" flavour, is a very good tab with bluetooth, gps and wifi, you can also tether it to your mobile and use its data connection :thumbs

If you get a cheapie with bluetooth, you could always use a bluetooth GPS, a bit clunky but might help with budget.

I've got a gps dongle but that uses the mini usb point and therefore no ongoing charging of the tablet ! That's why I just got rid of the Medion jobbie. To be fair it was bloody good for 70 quid but as no GPS :(
Lenovo looks an option :thumbs

Couldn't you just of ran a separate power feed to the bluetooth dongle?

Could have but didn't want to :p Just want neat n tidy simple as etc :thumbs
I've been looking at that lenovo mmmm ording any second noooow

yes, Lenovo has GPS, in fact, if you hang on im actually picking up the 10" version tomorrow from work as a replacement for my Toshiba Ultrabook - ill be able to let you know if its any good, though the reviews I read are very good. 18 hours battery life is a huge plus point in my opinion.

Too late, done :D Funky looking beast
Bluetooth 4, GPS 16gb on board, expandable via ext micro sd 64 gb
Dolby sound something, front speakers
18 hours battery :sly
Pretty damn good dpi etc
159 quid :naughty

Sounds nice you just need to mod your dash now to mount it & have a factory look:naughty

awesome, I think you made the right choice! Cant argue with that battery life and every review I have read has been very good.:thumbs

Yep can't wait :naughty The dude who bought my medion one paid up quick sharp so I've just done the same :D
Hoora for pay pal :thumbs
I'll report back once I've fingered it a lot :lol
Cheers Clivvy :bow

I got the original Nexus 7
I run Google maps and have it tethered to my 3G phone. N7 does not have 3G
Both are plugged into chargers, 3G runs away with the battery on my Experia P
I like google maps always being updated
