Been with them for over 10 years & today had to call them out for home start, only to be told it will be about 7 hours before they get here. :doh
I know it's a busy time of year but 7 hours.. :nenau

so what was wrong with it then ???

Got here about 15 min's ago & he thinks it's the starter motor or the live lead to it, so no wiser now.. :doh

I'll bet your suffering same as me then. Check out "Extreme in Trouble Again" and a thread I started called "Battery"..

Does the starter turn over slowly? mines been dyeing for ages but it's finally come to a head, nice weather to be working on the motor!!!

Does this mean the new battery didn't fix it?

I got a new battery too last weekend but I have to say that I really didn't trust the one that was on the car.

No, still turned over really slow, at one point had his jump leads from his van & one of them booster packs on, drawing over 800 amps.

Like you our battery was on it's way out, had it on both the Mav's so over 5 years old.

Theres a place on Ebay sells recon starters for £77.49 to the door, so about to order one.

Well I'm gonna have a go at sourcing some leads tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on.

Jim

Was with them myself for about the same time, They left my wife & son stranded in shrewsbury, told me my cover had rad out , so got here home myself, Wrang them up gave them what for on the phone, After i came back to earth, they said o sorry sir i see you are a fully paid up member. Cut a long story short i got a cheque for £120 as a keep quiet, i think. Now with RAC

Been with the AA since 1976, I get home start for free [tight sods should get other freebies after so long..but never mind] called them out a few times, they were ok....so I will stay with em....til they fail me, then i'll change.
7 hours is definitely a joke.

Got a puncture and couldn't budge wheelnuts at busiest time over Christmas. I was quoted up to a couple of hours but due to my wife being ill turned up in 40 mins.
Not the AA, but Britannia Rescue - pay approx £70 pa for self and wife Personal Cover any vehicle for breakdowns over a mile I think from home.

I suppose this is purely down to geography
If you happen to break down near a patrol or in an area with more patrols, you will be lucky to have a short wait.
