Ok, so did the soapy water test, noise all went away when I sprayed the belt.
Found the receipt, was last done December 2012

It was done miles away. Cost more in fuel to get there and back than taking it down the road and getting a new one put on
In the past I have used WD 40, but just a cup of water now and again sorts it.

Update from the garage... they reckon its the tensioner bearing and it's over 200 quid for a replacement part
They also said the radiator might be leaking, so it needs that too. Have found one from a specialist Nissan breakers for 100 quid incl VAT & delivery, with 6 months guarantee.
Would that be the option to go for? Don't think I can afford a new one as well as the tensioner.
Same place have got the tensioner too with 3 months guarantee. Would you recommend new or 2nd hand?
