Hi All,

Just wondered if there was much difference in driving manners between a 235/75/15 and a 215/80/15 on a T2 SWB.

I'm guessing you'd get a bit more roll and less grip with the 215's but just wondered if anyone had any experience of both.

Cheers

Hi I upgraded from the 215's to 235's on the same 15" 6J rims, you have to ensure that the 235 tyres are approved for use on the appropriate rim in my case 6" width rims, some manufacturers are not. So look at the tyre manufacturer first to check.
I prefer the 235's to the 215's slightly wider foot print better on road manners and since Nissan changed to the wider tyres from approx 1998 onwards, it seemed a good idea at the time. Also there is a better selection of on and off road tyres in this range. The Circumference is about the same so the speedo will read correctly.
Road manners were improved more by changing the rear diff oil (LSD) than I noticed from the tyres to be honest.
Tyres look better having the wider profile.
For off road use some prefer narrower tyres to cut through the Mud and get down to the firmer stuff.... Sorry I can't comment on that but I am sure there are people with more knowledge than me. I guess it depends on what you want to do with the truck.
Best regards, Rustic

Hi Rustic,

Yep do know about the rim widths, looking at a road set of rims/tyres for the summer to save my 235/75/15 muds when I don't need them.

Chance of a 215/80/15 set which is why I asked.

Thanks for the info.
