As far as I know the immobiliser/coded key is unlikely to affect an engine once it is running, And yours was running but then cut out, right? I can remove my key from the ignition when the engine is running and nothing happens.

If it is the key / immobiliser fault then the engine light on the dash will flash when the key is turned to 2nd position.

I had a problem on a Mondeo where it just cut out and would not start. AA man came out, He was ages messing about, Diagnosed it as an immobiliser fault. Got him to tow me 30mls to the best car sparky I have ever known. Fixed it in 10mins. A fuse. AA man checked every fuse with a multi meter, I watched him do it, I rechecked them all. It was a fuse. Couldn't believe it.

Is there fuel going to the pump if so is there fuel returning to the tank as the ip has the lift pump built in and this lift pump will be pumping all the time the engine is turning as its mechanical:thumbs

I think this is a sensor issue, the guy you really need is Rayf, but think he may be on holiday, whatever it is electrical rather than mechanical, not a lot of help I know but might save lost time going in the wrong direction, you will be on NATS 2 or higher and this can play a roll, Rick

Looks like we found the issue.
At about 10pm we decided to check if pump is actually turning and unscrewed Bolt (on picture below), which is located in the centre between high pressure fuel supply lines going to injectors.
Using mirror, we could see a yellow (probably brass) disc or plate with 4 round holes in it approx. 2 cm inside the pump. (see picture).
Mechanic said that this disc forms part of the shaft and should be turning.
When we cranked, it didn't.
So, looks like it's mechanical pump fault, probably disrupted key, because if the jammed pump...
Does anyone have a spare pump?

Will take off the pump tonight and take pictures of you what's inside.

By the way, after fault codes were cleared, they didn't come up again.
Crank sensor is definitely working because tachometer works OK.

Just took pump pulley off. Everything looks perfect, key is intact...
Next thing - take whole pump off and disassemble. .. :(

If I were nearer I'd let you take my pump off to try one that works. Hope you get it sorted

Think this is where your problem is thought that from 1st post when you said you were running wvo.wouldn't dissasemble though best take it somewhere get it tested.Ive sold lots of pumps, running on diesel they should easily outlast the car.

I just found that my pal drives down from Aberdeen to London tonight, and back tomorrow.
Can he pay you for the pump and pick it up tomorrow?
Could you please call or text me on 07841877258.

Thanks,
Alex

Slight misunderstanding I think. If I lived nearer to you I would let you try the pump that is fitted to my engine if yours then fires up then you know its the pump.

Oh, I see. .. but how can you swap pumps so quick? I'm trying to take my off since yesterday, still long way to go.

Always check first

I have Had T2's For about 7 years, Twice with same problem I always check for pin hole in fuel line near back arch. very common problem for the leak to start with a pin hole did not notice for a while then I saw the damp on chassis.
