Hello guys,
I am new to the forum, guys on Vegetableoildiesel forum recommended me you as most knowledgeable people for Nissan cars, so please be gentle to newbie
I have a problem since last weekend, can't start my car, at all!
Car is 2005 Nissan Terrano 2, 2.7TD, 50K miles.
Runs 90/10 mix WVO/pertol, with heat exchanger to preheat fuel, 10" 5 micron filter and heated fuel tank.
I was driving from Inverness last weekend and suddenly on motorway engine just stopped. No knocking, poor acceleration etc, just off.
I changed fuel filter, tried to start - no success.
Next day we tried to start it by spraying brake cleaner into air intake - engine runs. Badly, but runs for few seconds.
Glowplugs were changed recently, but even if they are gone, car would start after 3-5 turns.
Fuel comes to IP, checked.
Banjo bolt filter is clean, checked
Fuses are OK.
Haven't checked relays thou...
Computer shows following error codes:
P0650 MIL.
P0215 Fuel Cut S/V1. (Fuel cut solenoid valve circuit is malfunctioning)
P1620 ECM Relay (An irregular voltage signal from the ECM relay is sent
to ECM.)
I found on forums that it may be fuel cutoff solenoid that is kaputt. Checked it yesterday - took it out. Piston fell off the solenoid body and I had to use shin pliers to get it off Injection pump. Visually looks OK. Not sure if piston should be separated from solenoid body.
Also tired to start engine without piston (to allow free fuel flow) - no success.
Now I suspect it may be crankshaft position sensor. Looks like it's also known problem on Terrano.
Yesterday I measured resistance between all all 3 wires on sensor connectro (see photo). Looks like it should have around 900 Ohms resistance between few of them, but it has either 0 or infinite resistance.
Any suggestions what can be wrong?
Thank you,
Alex
