Anyone of you technical bods got some advice for a cheap solution to n/s/f passenger well soaking in coolant? I fear that the matrix is leaking which will involve a visit to my local dealer, to take the dashboard out for repair. Could it be anything else? Many thanks for help....

Just out of interest you 100% sure its coolant?
There are numerous old threads on here about a leak under the front window or from the sunroof resulting in wet footwells??? Could be worth double checking them before taking it to Nissan :nenau

If it is coolant then you must be topping it up if not then look for roof leaks, tail gate leaks etc, Rick

you can ask a rad place or friendly plumber to pressure test the matrix in situ ... if you find it could be that. and run out of other options.

mine was leaking . you will find its part plastic part metal. mine leaked on the metal bit and K seal fixed it . wont work on plastic. so you have a 50/50 chance with K seal

dont loose sleep over it . its a massive job to replace , but prob wont need changing

Matrix leak

Unfortunately, definitely green anti-freeze all over footwell. Will try a sealant in radiator first, as I think a dashboard out job will be £500 + ???

k seal will work on the metal part. but wouldnt bother trying any other . unless rick solorman knows any better

id still go for pressure test mind .

30.00 quid to be sure .

k seal will require driving up to temp for a while, and if its up to temp it will steam up need heater on full and all fans blasting . but if its metal it'll seal ..... plastic part wont

so its 50 / 50 now :( fingers crossed for ya

K Seal, is that the stuff that comes in cans with a ring pull ? If so watch your finger ! works a treat but the lid is razor sharp. sorted my radiator (and finger) with it this morning. SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE !!

humph... beat me to the download link again..

its a five min jog to change honest!

NOT!!!!

Thanks for advice

Really appreciate your help.Going to argue the case with Nissan Dealer first, as the truck is six days out of its used car warranty!!! Has full Main Dealer Service history, and only done 42500 mls. If they are unco-operative, K Seal looks like the answer....

Mmmm, looks worryingly complicated. Hope I can get this done after warranty discussions with the dealer.... Thanks

if your i oxford, your near lacrupade (paul) if its the matrix and you want help changing it . (if your stuck) give me a buzz and ill pop down for the day or 2 ... ok

Many thanks for yor kind offer of help. Really appreciated. It's in Nissan service dealer now as I am geeting the matrix replaced under 50% warranty contribution

I wish I had this before I replaced my matrix - half of it was guess work, though started taking apart one evening, stripped fully next day and put back together in same day. Just a giant meccano set really!!!!

Outcome was the Matrix leaking. N/S/F footwell absolutely soaking with coolant covering wiring loom to rear. Main Dealer charged £650, but getting £325 back on sympathetic warranty claim. Then spent weekend drying out carpets... After owning three Defenders, I bought a warranted Nissan 'cos I thought they were reliable....
