2.4 petrol tuning

Anyone know how tun-able the 2.4 petrol terrano engine is?

Thinking about using it for a project custom 4x4/buggy. I am more familiar with the 2.7tdi rather than the 2.4 petrol. :thumbs

Other option is to have the torque and top end is a tdi with propane injection?

The Terrano runs the SOHC KA24E, sturdy but not stunning.

The big brother is the KA24DE, is DOHC and a popular modding and transplant block.

have a look on the american forums re sx240 they get very high bhp and torque from this lump, it has a very strong bottom end, Rick

When I had a 2.4 petrol I looked into tweaking the motor.
Plenty of options out there but all bonkers money.
Is the 2.4 a lighter motor than the old 2.7 oil burner ? If so I'd be happy to have the std petrol 2.4 and squirt some nitros for leary moments but just accept the extra power to weight ratio you'd have on the buggy.:thumbs

probably easier to start with the old td, add a intercooler and propane injection to be honest. Also turn the pump and turbo up a bit too.

Can run on red then too

Agreed, I just thought you had a 2.4

Not going to spend mega bucks on it, I can always build it for the 2.7. And if it does not work out well try a different engine/gearbox setup.
