owner say it hard to get in to all gears having to slam in to gear, when engine is not running 1st gear and reverse select easy

Pretty sure they are hydraulic clutches as well, I'm sure I've read it somewhere again, Rick is your man, I'm thinking that this and your other thread could be combined :nenau

Have you tried bleeding the system, could be air if hydraulic or if it's cable, try adjusting it. Also, have a look underneath when someone pushes the clutch pedal, see how far it moves.

There all hydraulic

Sounds like the synchros to me

Can try bleeding but another box is needed i think

would check to see if all hydrolics ok. master and slave also rubber flexi on slave. if still no good try changing oil- could be wrong oil or nackered oil. then clutch could be gone.....then box
how many miles on it, any service history/receipts- has it had a cluch in the last 100k?! etc

Is the gearbox noisy when driving it, normally, they will whine and clunk before going to the dogs.
As above, check the clutch hydraulics and movement 1st.

Yup +1 on this :thumb
Not worth tackling, mine is a little similar, you learn to drive to the style

Do a gearbox oil change, run it for a couple hundred miles and then change again. In the meantime bleed the clutch hydraulics and check the free play at the master cylinder against the specs in manual. Systems you describe sound like syncros in which case an oil change may well help extend their life, but could be clutch drag from bad hydraulics or even a warped disc.

Symptoms sound similar to a problem I had last year. Turned out to be a damaged clutch plate not releasing properly. Best to try the easy things first but I wouldn't replace the box without checking the clutch first.

found the problem the pedal box bolts to master cylinder were loose and the top bolt had come out ,cant find it perhaps some tosser left it out:eek:,so the metal work has snaped so the pedal wasn't pessing master cylinder

Lucky you checked all the fittings :clap as suggested :augie before fitting a new gearbox..as suggested :augie.
Glad you found it and can sort it out :thumb2
