You say your air filter looks a little dirty? First thing I would try is removing it and have a short run out, it's as much the invisibly small particles that block filters.
Worth a try .

I've just changed the air filter this evening and it seems to go much better will see how it performs over the next few days

Would there be anything that makes performance drop off when up to temp ?

Also rick I know you do a lot of off roading how does your snorkel work out ?

Noisy, better response etc ?

Tired fuel pump, it is in the tank, not easy to test the pressure as you need a tee piece and gauge and have to fit it in a very small space, also there is a pressure regulator in the manifold it lowers the pressure on low revs ups it on high vacuum operated could have failed, incidentally when you changed the fuel filter, did you undo the clips and pull the pipes of and get sprayed with high pressure fuel? Nop they do not, well not as in the diesel version, they have a sensor in the distributor that controls spark advance together with the ecu, if it fails think distributor fails as well, Rick

As for the pump would I hear it prime when I switch the ignition on ?

What's the thing on manifold rick ?

Can it be deleted ?

no it cannot be deleted, it is important for fuel efficiency, the bit about the filter is if you removed the feed pipe from the manifold to exit the built up pressure then some of the debris in the filter could have gone back up the feed from the tank only to come back into the new filter, you may hear a whine when it pressurises, but not always, Rick

No it is not compatible with the derv pump pressure far too high and no point anyway, Rick
