Following on today from my posting yesterday have now found out where the wire goes that had been cut and removed it was the fuel cut off solinod , on removing the old valve no plunger or spring was fitted , installed new valve with spring and plunger rewired it back to the cut off wire , and now when you turn on the key it puts 12v turn off the key no voltage so this is now working correctly

Fitted new battery and tested all electrics , lights wipers and everything is now working even the radio

Place key in ignistion and turn on :-

glow plug light goes out
Air bag goes out
4=4 light goes out
LED on dash goes out

Check engine light on
Oil pressure light on
low brake light on
Water in fuel on

LED goes on on dashboard

Turn the key off
LED blinks on radio
LED on dash blinks slowly

Lock all does with seperate Key fob and LED on dash blinks fast for 30 sec and then blinks slowly

Ehen i place the key in the ignistion a relay clicks pass side foot well blue relay

But still does not start ?

Check engine light guess i have to get this to go out before it will start or do i have to clear ECU of codes
radio LED blinks

Sounds like you have taken a step forward at least. Try looking at the fault reading download and read your codes.

When ignition is on does the engine management light flash or stay on solid?
Have you tried re-coding the keys!
Mark

Have you tried re-coding the keys, if battery has been flat or disconnected for long enough they will need doing, it's something that you can do yourself, I think there is a guide on here! If you sort out under bonnet but don't code keys it will not start, Mark.

I have two keys both do the same also the separate key fob for the central locking works

Also forgot to say the Radio works as well but no display guess I can find another radio sometime

would the radio still work if the keys where wrong

If by recoding keys you mean the alarm plips then I think he said that those are fine but the plips only do the locking and alarm. The chip for the immobiliser is not a easy recode but doubt battery disconnection would cause those to lose code.
Look at the quick links menu towards top right of the web page. There is a section called downloads which has a lot of how to guides. The code reading download shows you how to read any stored codes with a simple paper clip.

Just read your last post, common problem with those radios to lose the display.

Yeh that's the one jim, guide in downloads is called key fob recoding.
I understand from when I had a problem with mine that no battery power for a certain amount of time affects the system somehow and keys need recoding, mine are transponder keys however and 1066john's have separate plips, its worth looking in owners manual if you have one John, it will tell you if and how you need to do it!

the chip in key is linked to the receiver around the ignition key switch under the cover so even with battery disconnected it should disarm the e mobiliser.if fobs do not work that should not stop it starting.the fuel shut off should go click lifting valve so should be live untill you switch off the engine.
rick will put me right if i am wrong.
your water in fuel light shows you need to drain valve at bottom of fuel filter.
maybe you have sucked water through.
maybe a fast bypass is to disconnect fuel feed to ip on right side under bonnet and rig up a supply of fresh derv to ip and crack of each injector whilst turning it over to get clean fuel through pipes.that will get rid of air and draw fresh fuel through.
if that works change fuel filter blow through to ip reconnect ip to pipe disconnect fuel filter to ip line pump on top of filter untill fresh fuel comes out of the short rubber pipe into clear container make sure its derv not water reconnect short rubber pipe to bulkhead do up all clamps and pump fuel plunger till hard.better still leave ip connection till you have pumped fuel down and across to ip then connect up.
hope it helps.

Just a little note, not everyone realises that ip means injection pump. It took me a little while to suss that when I was given advice on changing fuel lines.

When you say it still doesn't start, is it turning over but not starting or is there nothing when turning the key?

Ian

it turns over

Yes turns over but does not start glow plugs lights up and goes out after cycle just does not fire

The fuel shut of valve I checked 12v opens turn off key 0v

turn on key there is voltage to valve

Maybe nothing however my T2 has in the past had similar issues, namely key in, lights on dash etc, turn key and nothing. Eventually figured out that the immobiliser was cutting in unwanted. This was due to the cables running in to the positive terminal being covered in rust etc. Cleaned all wires battery terminal etc and all good. It appears as though the battery claps can crack and cause issues.

Might not be your issue but give it a go, wriggle the wires and see what happens. :thumb2

?

Sorry to ask but this might be a thick question But how have you come to have a Terrano that will not start Have you just purchased it Or has it broke down Or have you had news keys n barel Or has someone been messin with it ????????????????????

As said on the phone, you need to get your keys re programmed to the car, the immobiliser stops the engine starting by not enabling the ECU so all the sensors on the engine are dead notably CPS and it will not start without this information, if the immobiliser just cut the stop solenoid it would be a piece cake to bypass with a wire from the battery, Rick

Hi Rick, is that something he can do himself or a dealer job etc?

to program key to immobiliser is a specialist job, Nissan, expensive, Mobile car locksmith much more reasonable, Rick

Yep, nissan were going to charge me £80 just to to put machine on to scan for codes, then whatever to find specific fault then who knows what to repair it!!

so you can save £80 with just a paper clip, think I must up my prices a bit, Rick
