Hello Mate and welcome to the club.

I am a petrol man myself, but I am sure one of the boys will be along shortly.

Brian.

Thanks pal i hope so pal i dont really wanna get rid of it because its perfect for what i need it for i even asked Ford about it and they said there is some kind of sensor on the pump but they dont know what it does lol and its £120

I have bought a coolant temp switch for it today to try because i noticed the temp gauge never goes over a quarter so worth a try

Thank

Clean or change the MAF, fit a new thermostat reset the codes and see how it goes:thumbs

Well tonight i have cleaned the maf, replaced the pipe going to the actuator, replaced fuel filter, new air filter, new coolant temp sensor and deleated the faults then took it for a good hard drive and the fault codes have gone but i dont think it is a powerful as it should be but like i said its my first one

See if you can find someone local to compare with. Personally, when I first drove mine, I thought it seemed like it would be a bit low on power, for towing, but it is a car that does not feel any different, no mater what you load it up with, it seems to have the same amount of power available.

Just after I got mine, I stuck the towing dolly on the back, with a Volvo on it, and the T2 drove the same on the way Reading, as it it did empty on the way back.

I could be wrong but i dont think mine has a egr pal i watched a video of a guy blanking one off and so i checked mine and there nothing there also i went to clean the mini filter and mine is slightly different to the one on here and there was no filter in there?

By the sounds of it, it may just be me and i think i expected abit more power but i will put the trailer on it soon with a car on it and take it for a spin thanks for the help

Mine does not have the EGR either... and again, when I looked, there was no Mini Filter, so some were definitely made with out them.

Have you checked the 2 flexible pipes either end of the IC, if they are not tight, you will loose air there, and they do seem to be something people forget to do back up, worth changing the Nissan/Ford wire clips for proper jubilee clips as well.

these mini filters vary a bit mine was on the rar of the pump set in the bolt if I remember, hard to spot, I tow a car trailer with a SWB T2 on it, no problems at all and bangers are a lot lighter, but I do run a petrol and to my mind the low down torque is better but the TDi comes in later at over 2000 revs, Rick

good-no EGR to worry about, mine had one but it was an early 97. As LazyFerret suggested, check the I/C hoses-he makes a great point. I did exactly this a few year ago when changing the No1 injector, loss of power etc.

As for how powerful it should feel, yeah, mine never felt THAT powerful, but I think thats because the I/C and Turbo aren't that big anyway, the Tdi only has about 125 BHP, which is only 25 BHP more than the TD, and with a 0-60 of about 18 seconds, they are pretty slow. What they do have though, is OODLES of power, so what you will find is when towing, you still have the same power!

Once I got used to mine, it started to feel quite decent for a car its size and weight.

One of my IC pipes have the spring loaded clips on them i will change them for jubilees this weekend i suppose every little helps.
Should i be able to feel the boost kick in? I also have a Mondeo 2.0TDDI and it is alot quicker and you can feel the turbo kick in maybe this is my problem comparing it to this lol

I just want to thank everyone for there help and advise

Personally, I have never felt the turbo "kick" in, you just feel it pull harder as you go past the 2000rpm mark when loaded.

Nope, the Maverick doesn't have a TDCi engine, totally different, so a pointless comparison. This is a TDi engine with only 125 bhp if that at that age, pulling a much heavier car using much older technology. I have a Fiat Still 1.9 jtd, and it goes like stink, and I can hear and feel the turbo. The maverick isn't a car, let alone a sporty one! Keep investigating, none of us can say what you have is right without driving it, but if it pulls strong up hill etc, then its probably just fine.

As said, I never felt turbo kick in, could hear it t around 1500/1800 rpm:thumbs
