Can't believe I'm doing this but it shows what a day out with Team Wales does for a bloke.

I was into CB yonks ago (back in the 80s) when it was highly illegal and had a great time. Having been out this weekend with the TW nutters, I'm now thinking of getting a set again (god help me!)

So, few questions:

1. Recommended kit and aerial please - not expensive but not tat either.

2. Do you still need the magical "SWR meter" these days or is it plug 'n go?

3. Any ideas for mounting in a T2 dash without getting the chainsaw out and wrecking everything, i.e. "bolt a 6-inch girder to the top of the dash" won't compute..!??

10-10...(note to self - grow up.) :naughty:thumbs:augie

I would get a springer type aerial as it'll take the knocks better:D I would still use a SWR meter to be on the safe side:thumbsradio's loads on ebay & you can pick up midlands cheap enough:Das for mounting it most peeps use the cubby box infront of the gear sticks, i've got mine mounted on the drivers side trans tunnel with a bracket to the lower dash screw & a hook bracket going under the centre console but forgot the members name but he roof mounted his which looks great

good point about mounting; theres some metalwork up in the roof where the interior lights are at the front....not much of it used if you don't have a sunroof, like I don't, so might investigate that! Tks for the tips Sweety

Like I said I can't remembers the members name but he managed to fit one up in the roof after making up a bracket & he even had a sunroof so it should be alot easier for you not having one if you do go that route:thumbs:thumbs

ebay for rig..... maplins for Ariel and magnet and lead

bout 50 quid total

CB shop told me SWR was not needed these days and I have to say that I've had my rig in several different cars now with no problem .
I bought the slimmest Midland I could find with a magmount and springer aeriel and just velcro the rig to the transmission tunnel and plug into cigarette lighter :thumb2

Absolutly...
I got mine off ebay Midland 38 I think complete with springy aerial. Magmount on roof cable down the door seal and stuck the cb in the cubby .
Job done and works a treat:thumbs
Most of the time you just need to chat to another truck in the party so you dont have to get the last possible bit of range out of it with meters etc.

was looking at that very model as well! guess i'd better put hand in pocket....
