    Gearbox issues with 97'er 2,4i

Hey Rick, I just bought a gearbox on ebay ... 25,50€ ... Cost me 6h driving with trailer on the Autobahn but it was a real bargain. The owner claims that the gearbox is running very smoothly. As it was a nice guy I tend to trust him. Anyway ... Clutch problems ... well, that interesting and...

    Gearbox issues with 97'er 2,4i

Good Morning, since I bought my '97 Ford Maverick 2,4i, 5 door, 175tkm ist has some problem withe the gearbox: - it drips a bit with oil at the frontside, probably the shaft seal - when I changed the oil, there was some metal abrasion on the drain plug. No big pieces, but more I would like to...

Bulbs in Heater/Fan section and Window Switches

Hello, it seems that some bulbs are done. Some of the lights in the Heater/Fan controls seems to be dark and also some of the Window switches in the console behind the handbrake are dark (but I'm not sure if the switches should light at all). Has anybody replaced the bulbs in the Heater/Fan...

    Front winch

Goord morning, usually you'll need a certificate from the manufacturer of the part/mod that testify compliance with norms and regulations and that it has no negative impact on the car with respect to exhaust, noise, safety, .... There are two different kind of TÜV guys: 1.) Plain inspectors...

    New From Ireland

Hey, unfortunately I'm not very familiar with Patrols, but there is a German Offroad community (www.offroad-forum.de) with a strong Patrol community and some capable guys (some of them are dealers), so I would give it a try. Regards Joerg

    Front winch

Hey guys, I've a winch attached to my '97 Maverick. I bought a used winch that came with a custom made attachment. The attachment consists of two parts. One is a plate made of massive steel that is attached with the bolts of the tow-hooks. It basically holds two massive parallel tubes. The...

    Euro 1 / Euro 2

I guess I have to move to the UK .... German government decided a couple of years ago that there's too much dust in th air. So they defined "Environmental Zones" in the major cities like Hannover, for example. Now your car needs a sticker which colour is telling how much dust it's blown out by...

    Euro 1 / Euro 2

Hello, is Euro 1 / Euro 2 an issue in UK? I've gone through the pain the get my '97 2,4i 118hp 5door from Euro 0 into Euro 2 (what reduced my tax from 707€ to 176€). I don't know the regulations in the UK and if it's a difference in the pocket if it's an Euro 0 or Euro 2 ... ?!? Just wanted...

    Naughty second gear when cold

Hey, I had problems with shifting until I replaced the oil with the original Nissan oil MT-XZ 75W-80. Since then it works much more smoothly, but still the reverse gear is kind of tricky. I was wondering if some gearbox additive like the one from LiquiMoly would help ... I'm kind of sceptical...

    Newbie from Germany

Probably you'll have missed the funny part, as the ad is in German ... the ad says "doesn't look very beautiful, as it's a car used for hunting, but it's aboslutely rust free" ... ... after almost two years of fixing minor stuff and lots of welding (the first 20l bottle Sagox is almost empty...

    Front Wings

There are some videos / howto's available ... but from a "craftsman" perspective: it always looks easy when you see someone doing it that has 20s exeperience with material and tools ... it's something totally different doing it the first time, but I guess doable if you've got some basic...

    Front Wings

Just to confirm that I understand correctly: lead wiping ist the "art" of using tin-lead, instead of scraper, with flame, and a spattle made of wood ?!? I was considering using tin for smoothing the welding seam as it's always a pain to grind inside corners. I think distortation because of heat...

    Snapped Bolts

Hey, is it possible to heat the bolt? I made some good experience with some torch like this http://www.amazon.de/Proxxon-28146-Microflam-Brenner-MFB-E/dp/B000S89ZNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444804511&sr=8-1&keywords=proxxon+gasbrenner If the bolt is not too big it gives enugh heat and it...

    Front Wings

Hello, I'm new on the forum and happy to sse that here are a lot of Terranos guys around ... in Germany it's hard to find other Terrano owners that are taking care of their cars. Like mentioned in my introduction I'm trying to get my Maverick in good condition. Some of the work is already...

    Newbie from Germany

@All: Thanks for the warm welcome and your appreciation of my work. My neighbours are always astonished that cars can be repaired ... even welded ;-) But I think it's definitely worth the effort ... it's the beloved vehicle of my wife, our dog (she LOVES driving around, espacially on the rear...

    Newbie from Germany

Hey Rick, that's right ... but my wife forces me to do some homework and doesn't allow me to spend all of my time working at the car. Additionally I was kind of lazy with making pictures the last couple of months ... Cheers, Joerg
