Not new - Patrol info needed for mag feature

So far, I've found a new car price listing in a 1994 copy of Autocar showing that the Patrol was still available in 4.2-litre form with no mention of the 2.8 (non-GR excepting - I'm not covering the leafers in this guide). So, some point after that then! Confusingly, another price list show the...

Not new - Patrol info needed for mag feature

Crikey. It's December now and I'm still working on it! Alan 'Spinna' was very helpful when I spoke to him earlier in the year, but I still need some help - especially with specifications! The main thing I'm trying to tie down is when the Y60 went from 4.2 to 2.8TD. Was there any overlap between...

Not new - Patrol info needed for mag feature

Hi folks Hope all is well. I'm writing a feature for a non-4x4 car magazine on the Nissan Patrol Y61, possibly covering the Y60 too. I was wondering if there were any experts/specialists it might be worth me talking to? It's a general buyer's guide but with some ownership information - ie jobs...

Not a newbie, I'm an oldie!

Quite possibly! No doubt I'll be bored with the Disco before long so who knows...

Not a newbie, I'm an oldie!

Funny thing is, I was a passenger in my old Maverick today! We used it for hauling some logs about because the Disco only managed one trip before an existing oil leak decided to get worse... Had forgotten how horribly uncomfortable the seats are though! Maybe if it had some decent seating I...

Not a newbie, I'm an oldie!

Too many clubs to join and not enough money! Very grateful to this place for the help I got during my eight months of Maverick ownership though. Massively under-rated vehicles.

Not a newbie, I'm an oldie!

Hi folks! Thought I'd drop by to say hello, just because I caught up with a group of you lot at the weekend - yes, it was my Discovery on the Welsh laning trip. I've also defected... :o Was really nice to meet up with folk - no banter either way, just an appreciation of what our various 4x4s...

    Selling my pride and JOY

Ambitious I would have thought. Late two-doors don't seem to have undergone the same price inflation as early ones yet.

My Maverick 2.4i swb for sale

Didn't get any snow last year to speak of, though I did manage to find a drift to get the Maverick stuck in! There was a reason no-one had driven down that road... I have a Citroen 2CV, which is surprisingly good in the snow, and a BX on winter tyres. And a really big freezer. ;)

My Maverick 2.4i swb for sale

Sadly, it looks like my Maverick is going to go due to the classic scenario of too many cars and not enough money! I've already flogged my Bluebird but it looks like something else has to go, and it's the Maverick sadly. It can't compete with my two Citroens which can top 45mpg... 97k miles...

    How good are they?

Sorry. I wrote that badly. I was saying they benefit from the FITMENT of a rear locker. I felt like my Rangie would have gone anywhere with one of those fitted. It was absolutely awesome off road and much, much more comfortable than my Maverick. Shame the interior plastics made Kinder egg toys...

    How good are they?

I also consider a Land Rover to have the edge, though they also benefit massively from a rear locker. Overall though (and having come VERY close recently to flogging the Mav and getting a Disco) the Maverick delivers in other areas, like build quality and it's not massively disadvantaged off...

    volkwagen taro

Ahem. South American built. ;) It's just a licensed Hilux. No more Volkswagen in it than there is Ford bits on a Maverick.

    How good are they?

Depends if you like comfort. I've been bouncing around on some very rocky lanes in my Maverick today and at times it was seriously unpleasant. The Landy folk looked far more comfortable (as I remember from my Rangie last year). Even stock though, these vehicles are exceedingly capable. You...

    volkwagen taro

That IS a Toyota Hilux, not a Nissan, but built by Volkswagen. Volkswagen also built the Hillman Avenger as the Volkswagen 1500 for many years. South America is a very strange place.

    Rear brake lock up

In that case I wonder if the rears are doing anything at all. Jack up the rear (both wheels, so chock the fronts) get an assistant or jam down the brake pedal and see if you can rotate the rear wheels. I got a shock when I did this on mine once as the rears span quite happy! (wheel cylinder leak...
