it was with regret that i've sold the old girl, she was a great motor and fun to own and drive for the last 3 years. but, diesel's getting expensive, so she has gone to a good home where i know she'll be looked after. i just wanted to say thanks to the many members who have helped me when i...

    funny noise

thanks people i'll get the gearbox oil changed asap and see what happens. curiously the water pump was mentioned, i changed the pump several months ago, so i'm dubious it could be a tight belt after so long. as for the fan/motor noise, the reason i mention it is not because it works, but...

    funny noise

hello can anyone maybe shed some light on a strange noise coming from my 2.7td lwb maverick, 1998, with 112,000 miles on the clock. it's a sort of droning/humming noise that appears to come from the front end, it gets louder/higher pitched as the speed increases, but when i knock it out of...

    Milner 4x4

hello all just wanted to say a big thank you to Milner Off Road. i thought it would make a change to say something positive about a supplier rather than slag them off. i needed discs and pads for my Maverick, so i ordered wednesday, and they arrived today (friday) in central France...

clunk at low speed on full lock...

when carrying out 3 point turns, with wheel on full lock and car going very slowly, there is a noticeable clunk from the front end. having just had 2 new hubs fitted, and the car not being used in 4wd, can anyone suggest what it might be ? it happens both when going forward and backward. arthur

    changing a 2.7 water pump

morning for anyone interested, here are my notes on changing the water pump on a 1998 2.7 manual maverick. there's not as much ground clearance as you might think on your drive:lol the bottom hose is a real pig, because you can't see the clip and have to work by feel. a maverick cowling is...

    changing a 2.7 water pump

hi jim just checked again, and there doesn't seem to be any pipes connected between the gearbox and the radiator. the pic in the download appears to be taken in the same place as where my two pipes are linked by a rubber tube. can't get a very good pic as i'm too close to it. arthur edit...

    changing a 2.7 water pump

bonjour well it's a nice afternoon, i finished work early, and i've got to step 2 of the workshop download for changing the water pump and have my 1st (and hopefully last) query. it says at step 2 to disconnect the oil cooler lines from gearbox to radiator. as far as i can see the 2 lines...

    changing a 2.7 water pump

bonsoir CL i wish it was that simple, i don't think that there's much good stuff around the anchorage to give me a good fixing. but nice to know it's a fairly common thing, my mrs has been giving me gip about it all afternoon "should have gone to the garage" etc etc i'm a bit north of you i...

    changing a 2.7 water pump

thanks for the advice folks. now here's a tale; the maverick failed it's MOT (french) because my wonderful dog had chewed the rear seatbelt and frayed it a bit. so i order one from e-bay and decide to change it this afternoon. all goes well for a while then i go to undo the last bolt, the...

    changing a 2.7 water pump

thanks for that. i suppose it's the fact that when the radiator's put back again i could get an airlock or something like that. it's like everything else i suppose, if it goes according to plan no problem, but if something goes wrong... arthur edit. the belts were done 2 years ago, do i...
