help re vin number location

can anyone tell me where to look for the stamped vin number on a 1998 maverick ?

it says in the manual it's on the rocker plate on the passenger side, but i can't see it.

can't see it, chassis is undersealed.

also, the manual shows it on the opposite side to the plate under the bonnet, but says it's the passenger side.

there was a large thread on this about month ago,one guys with a mistral had to get mot cert changed due to tester getting wrong number! if you do a search on vin numbers or chasis numbers its bound to pop up! if i remember correctly people dashing out between rain showers to check theres lol!

I think it is in the middle of the car, on the chasis rail on the drivers side!

found it now, midway down the chassis on the drivers side under the underseal.

must be a misprint in the handbook :augie
