Just logged on again to say Hello!

Well I parted with my old Jeep Grand Cherokee WK1 after 5 years of ownership earlier this year - I now drive a used FWD Volvo XC40 2.0 B4 MPHV. The Missus still has the Freelander S2 Auto that replaced her Jeep WJ - it's only let us down once when it would not start on the driveway - turned out...

Some old names still around !

Geat to read the stallwarts are still going! Thanks for the greetings. Due to general old age I have stopped even doing oil changes on our motors I use a local 'old school' garage in the village. Like others here my mileage has dropped now to around 2k a year. I've not given up mechanical...

Some old names still around !

Hi Jim, I still have contact with a member from Sheffield who also moved to a Grand Cherokee. I did enjoy the odd read of rustygates trip to Alaska I did wonder if Briggie is still alive & kicking? Cheers Ted

Some old names still around !

Just popped in to see who is still active on here - I still have my Jeep GC WK that indirectly replaced our old Terrano r3mR - still have fond memories of the Terrano.

Latest bit of kit I decided to make

You could sell that to the Taleban! Your log splitter could fetch a good price in Afghanistan for hand amputation on Thieves etc.

    15W40 or 10W40

Chevron 10w/40 at CostCo I mainly used CostCo's Chevron semi 10w/40 never had any issues with it plus not too expensive it used to be £12 or so for 4 Litres - in the 20 L drums even cheaper per litre

    Anyone buying or selling NFT's?

Virtual Currency = Virtual Gain = Snake Oil That sounds too good to be actually true - can you cash the Ethereum in and convert the the £850 value into Stirling as quickly as you can buy this invisible investment? If you can then I would do it now whilst you are ahead.

End of the road on the 15th Sept 2021

Hi Folks my membership here ends this month - I have not owned a Nissan Terrano r3mR since 2013 so my days here are close to the end. I did during my r3mR ownership find this site very helpful I joined in 2008 when the site was much more active - even when we bought our Jeeps WJ & WK there were...

    Terrano 12v+ Permanent

I'm a little confused here - do you mean that when the ignition switch is in the auxillary position it does not power the radio? Does the radio work when the engine is running? On some models the radio is linked to the Hazard Warning light system for power do the Hazard lights work?

    MOT apprehension

A lot depends on where you get it tested in Deby Best of luck with the MoT imho main dealers set the highest bar, Halfords are always looking for work - small independent garages that test older motors I find the fairest.

    New Noise

Whump noises long shot ideas? Not sure how standard your set up is but are things like mud flaps contacting the tyres or wheels catching the wheel arch? Lastly have you changed the fluid in the steering box ever? If it's really old might be cavitation noises in the stystem? If you do change...

    Crank case pressure

Running in oils Back in the early 1970's when I worked at an Audi dealership we had to use the running in oil that came with a new factory engine - the Audi engineer explained that it contained a mild abrasive to bed in the bores.

    Ford Maverick

With that long MoT its worth what you are asking. You can't buy much for under £1k that is a 4x4 and worth owning imho so the price is about right. When selling privately you get a lot of small traders trying to bid low so they can sell on with a good mark up.

    I've been pinged........

Risk of not having the free vaccine I sincerely hope you do not catch Covid 19 like some anti-vaxxers in the USA & elsewhere who have sadly died from the virus. Of course you will probably dismiss this as fake news Rick. lol

    I've been pinged........

Covid Stuff I had Hong Kong Flu sometime around 1973 I was bed ridden for a week with a fever like temperature. I do not remember Hong Kong Flu filling our hospitals with folk who had difficulty breathing. Not sure what the age demographics were at the time. I assume Rick you have refused...

    I've been pinged........

Yes the 500/4 & 750/4 fetch really good money. In reality my 400/4 rebuild will like most vehicle restorations be a labour of love that looses money. At present I've spent just shy of £1000.00 on the engine alone with new shells all round, rebore, seals drive rubbers, clutch etc. I'm hoping my...

    I've been pinged........

Where has that bit of information come from "We have been living with corona virus for centuries or do you mean not the COVID 19 variant & it's recent mutations? It was interesting watching the news yesterday when Lisa Shaws widow told his emotional story about her dying of blood clots related...

r3mR has higher output alternator Probably a bit late in the day my old Terrano r3mR had a high output alternator as standard I think it was around 120 amp unit.

    Freelander Series 2 - 2.2 TD4 GS 4x4 5 Dr Auto.

So far so good but early days yet! At the moment Wendy absolutely loves the Freelander - it's nippy, economical & very car like in the way it drives. I put a set of tyres on it as I have a thing about decent rubber plus I have replaced the original battery with a Yuasa AGM battery (overkill)...
