    Bloody MAFs!!!

not sure it is every time on the bosch, but think about how much longer it will take to get to 1000" if the weather is -8. i know it is only a few degs below normal, but it must take longer and use more current? must do, even if only small, also i think they are thichfilm units, which become...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

ok, sado here has spoken to some people this morning! all are as confused, vosa just seem to be using confusion to there own end. but the final person i spoke to is a dvla approved driving instructor. if you hold b+E the mam of the trailer may exceed the weight of the towing vehicle. the mam of...

    Bloody MAFs!!!

hi ray, yes that is the one i ordered, should be here soon, i will feed back how it works. software you sent link for looks good, like the live logging idea, as you say will bring in maf data, so can gauge volume at given loads. the bosch units do self clean, they heat up to 1000" on some you...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

from a trafic cop point of view, weight he is interested in as below is the laden weight, he will take you to the weighbridge if he feels unit looks unsafe. is the ifor williams website is refering to comercial vehicles, not plg, as all cars and 4x4 are. we have 4 of there trailers i can ask...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

not full, but up to 2800. but, depends on load of terrano, full? 7 people, roofrack? must check that all up weight is not more than mam or train weight. you may still need to argue with mr.pc, but this i am pretty sure is corect. but lets be honest, we all know what does and does not feel safe...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

yep you got it, train weight is all up weight, towing weight is just that, weight you can tow on top of car/4x4 weight. so i underestimated at 5300kg. pet trafic cops are ok, but can bite:eek:

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

i tow leagly for work all the time, very rare to see trailers on the roof, but caravans, well...... make sure you have plenty of nose weight, if not, crash. as you say, 85% is rule of thumb, how much do you think and artic tractor unit weighs, compared to its trailer? yes i know, air brakes, but...

self cleaning kills them in cold weather, common on VAG cars. hitachi are best, no self burn/clean

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

hello briggie, for the terrano 5310kg then. i think xtrail is less, but all depends on laden weight of car/van. terrano with 2800kg trailer, if used for reward, would need a tacho.

me and two trafic cops, checked this out, as i was towing, passed no issue:) towed down to france, when sitting in the back of the caravn, the stearing wheel looked a long way away:( had no problem, until an owl hit window in middle of the night.

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

2800 is trailer/towing weight, all up weight is train weight. which on your plate will be higher value. terrano is about 4800?? xtrail 4300?? towing weight 2200. without hgv class, my licence is 8200. dont forget tacho though. you cant tow more than train weight, i think that is what has been...

Insult from a Land Rover owner!!

i think due to my licence, i am exempt from that, have now read vosa rules, and does not seam to apply for pre 96 test, mine was well before that, and have hgv class as well. did you pass after 96/97?

    Running like a PIG

some p11 primera like terrano had bosch, so check part number match's. bosch units fail due to self cleaning, which is overheating! hiatchi dont self clean, so nead cleaning. maf manufacture's recomend changing at 50k miles, but as unit pass's large current, it depends on engine runtime, you...

maf, after 3000rpm, air mass exceeds ecu map. if you creep up on it, very slow acceleration, does it seem better? cold weather is a killer for mafs. bosch or hitachi?
