    idle problems

is the primer a mod? as my primer is in the filter housing. when i was testing for my "leak" i put a large inline mower type filter and ran hose from tank direct to it and then another new hose from filter to pump, just to eliminate all others, then decided must be return. if you have done these...

    idle problems

if you read my post where i had fault under load, i had changed my fuel pipes, just remembered it got worse after this, over the lengh of the return pipe the small bore would be a restrictor, i just used same size hose for both, more i think about it more i think i may have caused fault :doh by...

    idle problems

if putting a restrictor in made a differance you may be on the right lines, i dont have any air in clear pipe now pre pump, any air is bad as it is not fuel. have you looked for valve or restrictor in pump, sorry i dont have a bosch one, but i think it is a vp37 in 2.7 and a vp44 in 3ltr? bocsh...

    idle problems

Hello Timbo, I have read with interest various people saying it is on all (misfire), I accepted that at first but mine got worse, the air in the system is indeed a possible cause and likely candidates are fuel filter or filter housing, I checked these by bypassing with a inline filter, still the...

    Alternator and heat plugs

ECU/Computer decides how long heaters stay on for, relay is controlled by ecu not like old cars with a timer relay. i have checked on mine and heaters do stay on a long time after startup, they come on and off untill temp is reached, forgotten how hot, but it is in manaul.

    whatsit

your pic of car looks the spitting image of mine, dark blue? p reg? mine was a Irish car, still on irish plates (northern) odd uk log book entry, no exact date of first use, just a decalred built on or after xxxx, changed to swansea in 2003.my car lacked power on hills and tended to missfire a...

    whatsit

I am not on about the mini filter, other end of pump has a spring and ball pressure valve which fails or rather deteriorates and reduces internal pump pressure, results in lack of power and hard starting, for the Zexel pump it was £16 and made a big big difference. Bocsh has same part, don’t...

    whatsit

Manual shows different opening times for each valve, egr and throttle at each stage. Blocked off the EGR, either by stopping vacuum (ball bearing) or making plate, but ECU (computer) will still assume it is present and working, so when it thinks EGR is open and pumping in air all but dirty air...
  13. B

    whatsit

It is the air balance flap or butterfly, it works by limiting the incoming fresh air when the EGR is operating, if you block off the EGR and leave this flap in place it will screw up the air/fuel balance, and make your economy and smoke output worse. If it is not working correctly and EGR is...

    Noisy thrust bearing

back in 1987 i had a brand new escort diesel, from brand new it ratteled until the clutch was depressed, then no noise. ford said it was normal for a diesel, they checked cluctch bearing and gearbox, but said ok. ok 170,000 miles later the clutch goes, new clutch fitted no noise. but i have to...

hello, not sure why you had to change the rear lights? my family live in Mijas, and over the years i did a few uk to spanish car itv's, i know they are getting tougher than they were, but what did they want rear lights changing for? did you go to the big test centre on the road to malaga...

    Steering box

    steering wheel wobble

yes, adjustment possible, but for wobble? you can loose all the free play, nissan say up to 35mm is ok, but stearing set like that is like a landrover!!

    Oily turbo

dont worry, i am sure you oil vapour is entering up stream from the turbo, but when it cools and forms liquid again, it drops down the pipe to the low point which is the turbo. all diesel have a certain amount of blowby, but cool running ones on multigrade (there i go again about this) do tend...

    Oily turbo

due to internal heat of turbo, if you did find oil in it, it would be very bad! oil is normaly enterung induction systems from blowby. try straight oil in your car, it works a treat. checked manual for terrano, states sae30 ok down to 0 degrees. i had to hand start a 60 year old diesel generator...
