as above starts about 50mph and still there about 65mph,had tracking done and wheels balanced as the front tyres were wearing on inside edge, tightened front wheel bearings, the wobble seems to go if going around a slight bend but returns when going straight again, ive looked at the steering joints and dont think there any play but when jacked up and move wheel from side to side you can feel some play somewhere, just wondering if there is a common problem or anyone had the same, many thanks in advance:thumb2

Well on my terrano there was a Lot of of vibrating through the wheel and it was the steering box. Don't know if your problem is the same:nenau

i had wobble. changed rims and tyres.. wobble gone.

i did have them balanced a few times and breaings both sides done.

was told later that SOME machine miss balance the wheels casue it dont quite fit on the machine quite right..

might try changing the front wheels with the rear wheels tomorrow:thumb2

can the steering box be adjusted at all?

yes, adjustment possible, but for wobble?
you can loose all the free play, nissan say up to 35mm is ok, but stearing set like that is like a landrover!!

But as Zippy says, can often be the actual tyres - frequently not fitted properly, so its not an out-of-balance wobble but a misaligned tyre on the rim.

Swap the wheel front to back and see what happens.

Could be steering slackness, wobbly CV joints etc.. but do the FREE option first :thumb2

swapped the wheels around as said and no wheel wobble :thumbs thanks very much guys :bow cant belive what a differance, must have been the front tyres, the people i brought it off said they put some new ones on but i suppose if your selling a car you arn't going to put expensive ones on,thanks again:thumbs

One thing worth remembering; the correct wheel nuts are closed at one end and rounded on the other end, which helps centre the stud in the hole. I have seen someone using flat-faced nuts which is wrong because it can allow the wheel to be tightened slighty off-centre - the wheel should be tightened almost fully while off the deck , doing the diagonally opposite nut each time.
