teeth are not rattling but hard to feel my fingers lol. no dont think its gearbox, not a continual rattle, just as the revs get to idle speed then stops. how best to discribe.....rev - "vrummm", rev drop and just as it stops - "grrr" sorry, the cold and wind has now frozen my brain!

i probably will need those parts if not something else so would appreciate the deails thanks. noticed the rattle is now there everytime i rev and the idle drops. had another look and the waterpump seems to be out of alignment, the belt is at an angle so not sure if thats a prob or not.

totally agree, think i would have preferred some snow, as have had freezing cold and the same arctic howling winds for 2 days!

thanks rick, done about 94000 miles now. i tend to listen to the engine so the rattles and whines are clear as day to me, esp with window shut. if its ok to drive for the moment then thats a relief, ive limited it to short radius journeys as want to preserve the engine. if it comes to ordering...

no the noise dosnt change no matter the revs. once warmed up the temperature dosnt go above normal,

had to take my 2.4 terano on a long round trip (around 700 miles) before the trip, after an hours drive the engine used to make a fan belt sound that didnt change in pitch. since the long run, its intensified, on first fire up, theres a clattery rattle which then vanishes, and then the fan...

hoping its the same as in lidl, as i went in and bought a cpl spray cans, metal paint rusat protection, altho will prob need more than 2 came in silver, green and white.....£2.99 tho :)

lol got 2 keys, only ones a goodun tho. sat in the car and did it and realized that the lock in the drivers door dosnt respond at all, any idea how can fix? tbh, i though the fob was just a keyring when had the car, didnt know it was remote...kinda handy tho, as with only one lock its a worry...

finally worked out how to program fob (no nums on barrel) now the central locking works....but if its locked, it unlocks then immediately locks, and if its unlocked, it locks then immediately unlocks! all doors are closed so any ideas as to why it its doing that and wont stay locked/unlocked?

Dont know if this is avg or poir fuel economy and part of the fault but my 2.4 does 50 miles on 20 quid roubd town and dbl that I on duel carriageway

Cheers rick and brian, will try reading codes today, and also look at servicing those parts. it only seems to cut out on occasion when 1st started, and the engine light will flash. roars nicely but although will chug happily up hills slow in low gear, has no guts up long ones in higher gears
