i live in a little village just out side moreton-in-marsh called lower lemington. chipping norton is about 6 miles along the a44 out of moreton. tyre and battery placee there called carteton tyres. had loads of batteries the other day when i went in for my new battery, left and right hand ones.

i've just put a 95amh in my mav. starts first time, even with the frost we had this morning. a flat battery could also be a sign that the alternator might be on itys way out.

hi rag1873, does it sound like the drive belt on the power steering is squeaking/slipping? It could be that you have not tightened the belt enough when you put the power steering pump back in to position. if so then undo the tension bolt at the top of the pump and move the pump a little more to...

just a little pointer incase you didn't know but you shouldn't use 4x4 whilst driving on tarmac or pathed/hard surfaces as you will get transmision wind-up. p.s. i would go with rossco and change the gear box oil.

i think i've cracked it! :lol: had a good look at alternator in the light, low and behold the negative terminal/connection was loose, nut holding spade on hade nearly spun off 8O . so tightened back up again and all seems to working. even little green charge light on battery is working -groovy-...

did the volmeter test and the volts pick up when i fiddle with the connector at the back of the alternator?
