Yes thanks, there is a reaction between most different metals but all aluminium in air is oxidised on the surface I think so maybe no problem. There are copper and brass olives for compression fittings so perhaps somebody might know which is best Bryn

That's a good idea to use a 10mm plumbing straight compresion coupling from the ali to the copper replacement and back again. Better than flexable rubber pipe. Bryn

The pipe is 10mm so I think I will replace the section under the rad with 10mm copper central heating pipe and a bit of flexable with clips. Bryn

Sorry not a liquid but a gas. Can't see why an evaporator (radiator) would block other than a leak. There is an expansion valve that might be blocked if something has got into the system. Bryn

There is a liquid that you can put in when you have it gassed which you can see with a UV light where it leaks. Pumps do leak over time. Bryn
