Hi,
Anybody know what the typical egt is for a 2002 Terrano 3.0DTI with and without the egr blocked.
Bryn

Some of the Aus forum guys speak of the ZD30 being ready to blow if you run over 1300deg F (700deC) pre-turbo prolonged. This is true of any diesel mind.

It seems that the management is abit rough and ready on these, as a clogged EGR system will cause both overboosting -and limp mode, AND excessive egts.

Ive not worked on a 3litre, so suggest you hook up an egt gauge and have a look for yourself.

its common for them to crack pistons two of us on here have seen big bills for engine overhauls,i was lucky the previous owner lost £2k+ thre pistons and some of aussie guys swear its high egt to blame

I have an egt gague on order that's why I am asking plus I am eating glow plugs.

What brand of glowplugs are you using, plus have you checked that the post-glow is shutting off when it should?

I have checked that they switch off and they do when the coolant gets warm. Not sure of the brand without looking.

You may well have problems with some spurious brands. Best to fit the genuine / Bosch / Beru ones.

For what it's worth I recently fitted 4 NGK (as per original) at a cost of 26 GBP each from Wilco.

One set were NGK I remenber, the current ones are Japan HKT I think the logo is difficult to read.
