Hi,
I have a small leak from the p/s cooling pipes running under the radiator. Can I just replace that part or is it from the pump?
Bryn

Sorry don't know as I haven't taken the sump guard off yet, but it ran out of p/s fluid and there is dripping around the bottom of the rad.
Bryn

You can do it with plumbing fixings but the easiest way is find a hydraulics specialist and get yourself some hydraulic pipe (can't remember if you need 8 or 10 mm internal diameter) and some hose clips, then cut out the offending section and replace with same.

Its probably gone behind one of the securing clips/rubbers. You'll also note theres a loop of ppe from n/s to o/s and back again, presumably for colling purposes but its unclear.

The pipe is 10mm so I think I will replace the section under the rad with 10mm copper central heating pipe and a bit of flexable with clips.

either way is fine.....its just the hydraulic route gives you all the flex you need and avoids overtightening of 10mm compression joints :thumb2

That's a good idea to use a 10mm plumbing straight compresion coupling from the ali to the copper replacement and back again. Better than flexable rubber pipe.

Do i remember right, theres a reaction between ali and copper.. or ali and steell...

will go search..

Yes thanks, there is a reaction between most different metals but all aluminium in air is oxidised on the surface I think so maybe no problem. There are copper and brass olives for compression fittings so perhaps somebody might know which is best

If its leaking from the joint of a union then clean it off and smear a small amount of loctite hydraulic seal on the faces.

there are no joints in the main pipe.....and the reason it goes is unclear, usually under one of the clips that secure it to the front valance. In my case there appeared to be a split of some kind - possibly done at the factory on installation? - that seemed to have been filled with some kind of hard sealant. The pipes themseves at this point are encased in rubber so its clearly not down to disparate metals...

I think the referance to different metals was me saying I was going to use copper pipe as a replacement to join to the aly
