Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

I have custom filter and clear fuel lines, there is no air in lines. All injectors were cleaned and adjuster on Friday by Bosch Diesel Centre. Another update. Engine is hot now and keeps revs ok. Pump was moved to the middle position. Vibration higher than standard, but better than earlier...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

This is used pump. I checked needle sensor for resistance only, and continuity on timing advance valve. Another update.Just physically moved pump away from engine as far as possible. All fault codes have gone, Engine Check is gone, just white smoke, rough running and unstable revs while cold...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Checked needle sensor and timing advance valve resistance and continuity. Everything ok, as per manual. Engine runs ok except white smoke, high vibration and P1246 fault. The only thing I can do now is forget about pump adjustment and move it manually.

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Rick, this is pump I bought last week, and crank position sensor was checked last month. Now I'm thinking about needle lift sensor, this is my last hope.

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Just came back home, was assembling everything back. Timing advance was 0,29mm on timing tool gauge, manual recommends 0.36 +- 0.02, so I adjusted that by rotation the pump. Started engine. Engine starts OK, but makes lots of white smoke, a bit of banging noise, unstable running, Engine Check...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Thank you guys. Is cylinder pressure ok,not too high? Should wastegate open easily by hand? I would assume so.

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Todays update: 1. Had my injectors cleaned and serviced (not refurbished), £190 for set of 4... They look very good and spray good, but my purse is still crying... Injectors were adjusted to open at 130 bar. 2. Diesel specialists suggested that manual pump adjustment does make a difference...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

In this case, does it man that all I need to do is to install pump in the middle of studs and adjust the rest electronically?

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

I used to simply bubble dry oil before, but as take oil form the top of IBC and I use 5 micron in-car filter, I believe water should separated quite well.

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

By the way, I got interesting comment about setting advance: "Reckon about 0.75 should do it, IF it wasn't an electronic system! Setting as the diesel-centre suggests wouldn't be a good idea. The Terrano has electronic system, so the ECU will set timing back to standard. --providing the pump...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

I don't really bubble dewater it, I keep it in 20l cubies or (recently) in IBC, so all water settles down. Oil I get has no water in it, I mean, no visible signs of water, maybe some trace emulsion.

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

It had round nylon mesh filter, and was pretty easy to remove on 1st pump. On second pump it stuck to IP body so hard that I had to remove it with hammer and chiesel. Here the valve is number 9. And here is the filter, green:

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Geoffdown is right, I can rotate pump approx 1cm on studs. Default position is in the middle - there are even marks on pump body and engine block which match in the middle. I will probably make it around 1 degree and see how it goes. Makeitfit, I filter oil in the garage, and also have large 10...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Can't stop using WVO - I get it free from local bakery, so it has best value for money for me :) I spoke to diesel centre specialist today, he suggested to set it from 0.59 degrees to 1-1.5. What do you think?

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

I am expecting to get timing adjustment gauge tomorrow. I'm confused what advance should I set - Terrano manual suggests 0.59, but AutoData - something around 0.26. As I am planning to drive 95% WVO, what would you suggest to set? Thanks, Alex

    2005 Terrano 2 2.7TD - troubles continue...

I was starting on black diesel yesterday to try the pump. As it was just bought, there is no WVO inside.

    2005 Terrano 2 2.7TD - troubles continue...

Installed and tried new IP today. Engine starts now, but same horrible cracking noise exists. Mechanic suggested it can be something wrong with fuel injection: - Injector stuck open or broke - Lost compression due to blown gasket or leaking valves Managed to take control injector off, its...

2.7 Tds Starting Problems, Glow Plugs?

It may also be glowplug relay which did not switch off and burnt all your glowplugs. Check that as well.
