Test stand for Terrano TD27TI / ETI engine

Thanks for the advise! I'm not familiar with OBD interface adapters - there are so many of them on the market! Will basic one like that do? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Consult-Diagnostic-OBD-USB-Interface-14-Pins-Scanner-Tool-For-Nissan-/121160179233?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c35b59e21 Or...

Test stand for Terrano TD27TI / ETI engine

Thanks guys. If you read my post here: http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=227489 you will find that I had great problems running that engine - either because of mechanical fault (found 2 glowplug tips broke and fell inside cylinders) or electronic (I ran that engine on...

Test stand for Terrano TD27TI / ETI engine

Finally after 4 months of repairs I'm back on wheels! :) We fitted a new engine with 58K miles, and now I want to fix old one, with 52K. I got an idea to make a test stand first, to repair and test engine without fitting to the car. I understand that I will need the following components: 1...

    K&N filters

To get thread back to life... Are BMC filters any good? Comparing with K&N? I can get one similar to this one for about £60 Internet says filter element is washable. Is it a good stuff for day to day driving?

Are Audi Crankshaft sensors compatible with T2?

    Read in one of the threads here that Audi A3 A4 A6 A8 TT 1.6 1.8 2.4 2.7 2.8 3.0 Crankshaft Sensor is compatible with Terrano 1. Is it compatible with T2? I have TD27TI OE Numbers: 0261210147 , pf100607PA , 06A90643AA , 06A906433C , CS-E016 It's only 9.99 on ebay with free delivery, comparing...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Update. Was trying to figure our which injector may be squirting. Was disconnecting Hight Pressure fuel lines from each injector, one by one. NONE!! Same knocks and white smoke! So, it's not fuel injection system... Next thing I'm checking is connecting rod bearings. Will need to remove front...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Update. My pal brought computer which can read lots of live data, including timing advance. Our findings: 1. ECU automatically adjusts CORRECT timing irrelevant to IP position on engine block. On hot engine idle timing is around 2.5 degrees, with high revs may reach 8-10. So, no need for Timing...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

2 other suggestions I got: 1. Crankshaft bushings? If they move or break, that can make noise, but what about smoke? 2. Actuator. Pump is from 2000, and considering that someone has removed filter from the banjo bolt, actuator can be full of crap and stick or something. Your thoughts?

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Yes, that makes a sense. Will try to replace it and check. In theory that explains the problem with smoke. But what about timing? Is air flow related to timing advance?

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

OK, if MAF sensor is damaged, should I not get P0100 fault - An excessively high or low voltage from the sensor is entered to ECM?

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

It is Bosch then, it reads 95 ohms. Below is what was checked or done over last weeks. All checks on proper derv: 1. As per Workshop manual - voltage to timing advance valve - present. 2 . Crankshaft sensor - resistance 850 ohms at 7 degrees , should be 900 at 25 degrees 3 . Needle sensor in...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

Hmm... In the picture below you can see pick-up coil at the top of the injector, and as far as I understand there is a rod which is being moved by the needle. If this road breaks, then coil is OK, but it sends no signal as rod is not moving. Is it possible that Diesel centre guys could have...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

I just spoke to them, they said it was also checked. And resistance I have (96 Ohm at 7 Celsius) is close to correct - 105 Ohm at 25 Celsius. Now trying to negotiate with CNCfab to get his control injector to fit to my car and see what happens...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

What this sensor senses? Needle movement? They were stripped and cleaned all last week. Another suggestion I got: "I wonder if there's some crud got into one or more injector, maybe from a bent injector-line or reassembly.... Did you flex or bend any HP lines to remove the injectors...? If so...

Correct timing advance on 2005 Terrano 2 2.7TDI?

During tests car was running on approx 50/50 WVO/Derv. Plus, I have coolant heated heat exchanger, which heats up fuel to about 90 degrees. Fuel definitely was easy to flow. Another update. Following mechanic's advice (and suspicion), adjusted intake valves (should be done after 60K miles, mine...
