caravan / camper / shed? This is different!

Hi PLANK I saw one just like that 'in the flesh' as it were in Picton New Zealand in 2009, complete with chimney and decorative deer horn mascot on the front - priceless!! Those Kiwis are definitely resourceful! CL

That's not what I read Daved, price goes up to 85K with a VW 136 hp!!!! Whatever - way out of my (pensioner's) pocket! CL Sorry Daved, just re-read you post and yes it is PLUS the carrying vehicle, i.e. 85k with the VW! CL

caravan / camper / shed? This is different!

Hi PLANK Interesting concept (and not new) but at 53k Euros (!) for the two berth fixed bed model - I'll stick with my 10k Euros fixed bed caravan with better facilities and more space Rgds CL

    Rear washer - not!

Hi LC and thanks for your heartfelt sympathy!!! I've just come back from the reeeeeeeally sunny Caribbean so cold wet rain in 'sunny France' ain't bl00dy funny. But at least it's not snowing:-) Thanks Jimmy Jaffa for the heads up on the one way valve and filter for the rear washer. Looks like...

    Rear washer - not!

My front screen washers work fine but rear one doesn't wash. Before I start taking panels off, does anyone know if the rear washer on an '03 LWB 3ltr T2 has a separate pump or does it use the same one as the front washers, with fluid being piped to the rear? Regards CL

    Paint Code

Hi Rick I've just used mine to buy some paint. As Cnfabs said, its on the VIN plate which is on left side (looking forward) - (or port side if you know your red from your green!) of the bulkhead under the bonnet. At least that's where I found it on my '03 3ltr Rgds CL

    Dad to the rescue (again)

Bit different in France Terranical - here it's the car that's insured, anyone can drive but if an un-named driver has a claim the excess is sky high! Might be a good idea to check your policy wording with a friendly translator? Rgds CL

    Other Car Stuck On Ice

Hi Jim. We have one of those auto parking brake gizmos on my wife's Scenic. I believe you can release it, when the engine is running, by pressing the red light on the 'handbrake' lever and letting it go. I don't think you have to 'set off' before it will release. Give it a try! Rgds CL

    Aerial on roof

Hi Richs Done that aerial damage a couple of times to the rear mounted twig on my old '96 T2. Remedy - just stick it back in with two part epoxy - worked every time! (At least it did for me) It contacts with the metal tab inside the mount which in turn supplies the signal through the coax to the...

what about this as a replacement bat

Hi Kbekl I agree entirely with Rick's comments, buy basic but look after them. Having lived on battery power (on a boat) for a number of years, he's right on the money. Don't go for big names, go for basic big amps lead acid stuff, sealed or not, they are by far the best value. Re...

    oil light

Hi Ivan The 3ltr Patrol engine is known to have oil pressure sensor problems, it has two f them. There are a number of earlier threads on the subject, it might be worth a search. Rgds CL

    New to X Trail

Hi David Is that a French price? If so - not too far out of the ball park for France but way OTT for UK. I've just paid the local Nissan dealer 8500 Euros (7228 GBP) for a '03 3ltr T2, WITH a years warranty (EU regulation for used cars) and I consider that a fair deal here in France. Same car...

A classic example of Euler's principle - of the sum of a sequence of integers - every equation results in 9. The one film I haven't seen! CL

Where did all my money go?????

Hi Paul & Mrs L. Shop looks just great! I wish you both much luck and prosperity. I wonder what Mr Roberts, General Merchant of Jubilee Stores 1897 would think of it now? Regards CL

    Welding!

Hi Clivvy I had a similar problem with the right rear seat belt attachment point rusting on my previous '96 T2. I drilled a suitable size hole nearby in 'good' bodywork, re-attached the seat belt mount with a couple of big 'repair' washers, 'glassed over and under-sealed the rot and the car...

    Hi Everyone

Hi Sp00k and welcome to the fold. For info:- I put a rebuilt box into my last T2, a '96 TD. It cost me 750 GBP to buy from the UK, and a local garage fitted it for about 400 Euros. That's a lot I know but here in deepest darkest France one doesn't have a huge choice of facilities. The local...

Permanent live on 7 pin tow socket?

Hi Guys and thanks to everyone for all the feedback. I like your idea Rustic re fitting a toggle switch to use either system depending on what/when I'm towing or when static. I'll give that some serious thought. Tom the T2 - Maybe French wiring - they seem to be a little laid back as regards...
