A little bit of this and a little bit of that

p.s. if you run extra long washer hoses and coil them around the cooling pipes somewhere, you can have hot wash. :)

A little bit of this and a little bit of that

Is that smilie for when you hit your head on those switches? :D You might be strapped in with a full harness and not be likely to hit your head on them, in that case are you sure you can still reach them? Seen a lot of folk put switches where they can't reach them when strapped in.

    Towing capablites

I'm pretty sure we all understood your question but as this is an internet forum it is required that the thread should develop into an argument about something else. :)

    Help! with Clutch Damper

I bought a 1/4 BSP plug the other week for this job. It is not the same thread. I reckon if you had a brass 1/4 BSP plug it could well work as the soft threads could jam in place. I doubt a steel or iron one would work. Best solution would be to get a flexi hose made up. Or make your own with...

    Towing capablites

How does that work then?

    Silverstone virgin. Any advice?

Take food with you unless you are a multi millionaire. Take ear plugs, it can get a bit too noisy. Even if you don't use them they only cost pennies. Silverstone is the flattest track i have ever been to, you can't see much unless in the grandstands. Especially if it is busy. Get there early...

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

£30 is a good price for a master cylinder. I paid £55 in my quest for a cure. Good luck.

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

ps. I mean at the flexi end just for clarification.

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

Been there, done that. It lasted just over a week. I also went on to replace the master cylinder which also fixed it for a week. Take the damper pipe out, cut the end off the pipe so there is a few mm plus the flare left. Get someone to seal the end of the fitting up with a welder and then put...

    Bank Holiday Weekend

Spent Saturday evening wrestling mackerel off the resident seal at Mackerel Rock (Anglesey) I usually dread these places on bank holiday weekends because of the crowds, unbelievably there were only a couple of others there. 250lb seal on the end puts a bend in the rod!!

    New car thoughts

70mph on the speedo is 2750rpm, on the sat nav it is 3k rpm. Some interesting stuff in the replies, thanks for your help. :thumb2 Didn't even think about towing weights being different

    New car thoughts

Dunno. Only recently got to the point that it will actually do 70. :lol Had a high frequency vibration and pulled quite strongly to the right. Having worked through a lot of things it turned out that having the wheels balanced cured both. Very surprised the balancing cured the pulling to the...

    New car thoughts

Thanks for the replies. :thumb2 I like the sound of the lazy drive. Good to hear they are nice at motorway speeds but have to admit most of my driving is on country lanes or across fields. Do the autos have a low box the same as a manual and if they do are they any good? Had a Surf once and...

    New car thoughts

I am seriously thinking about getting a new car. I have had 3dr and 5 dr Terranos but only the 2.7 versions. I briefly had an auto Mistral but that was only bought to rob the engine out of so I never really got used to it. My current car is a Maverick, 5 door manual. Paid £900 about 3 years ago...

3.0 terrano squealy belt when wet

Dipstick and filler cap would have a mayonnaise looking substance on them. That's a good way get some indication if the water is going into the oil.

    I'm an idiot :(...

If the oil level was still on the dipstick that isn't likely to be the cause of the oil light being on.

    Clutch/Gearbox again!

Maybe your clutch is leaking and not as effective as it once was. Wouldn't be the first. Generally speaking once I am moving I don't use the clutch to change gear, just one of my habits. Point being that you don't actually need to use the clutch as long as the revs are in roughly the right...

    Seized load sensing valve?

Bane of most of my vehicles. :( WD40 and a thrashing with a hammer is a good starting point :)
