Looks like you need to sort out the wheel arches, from that rear view the bodywork doesn't look like it covers the tread, so it isn't road legal like that.

If it is a selectable 2wd/4wd system like the terrano, then there isn't a centre diff, and the bouncing you encountered was transmission wind up. If it is a permanent 4wd system and you lcoked the centre diff then the symptoms you describe are again transmission wind up. Have you got the owners...

AFAIK the later TDI terrano doesn't have the mini filter, I'm of the impression that the mini filter is TD only? I've used my terrano to get to france 5 times now, sadly this easter will be the first run in the X-trail rather than the T2, but it will do. I'd get a full (major) service done...

I've read some advice somewhere (don't ask me for the reference!) and I have a feeling that in a 4wd it said if you only have 1 pair of chains, fit them to the front, for grip & steering. Not sure if french law wil state anything about this though, and common sense would say 2 pairs of chains...

Thats right, no dump valve on a T2. The effect of a plug in on the 2.7 is good, OK, performance with a 2.7 4x4 isn't going to be earth moving, but it makes our vehicles much,much nicer to drive.

These are often called hubcentric spacers, I have seen them on e-bay for our vehicles in the past, if you have to fit spacers these are probably the most effective way of doing it.

Terrano's don't have a centre difflock due to selectable 4wd - putting it in 4wd is the equivalent of locking a centre diff on a fulltime 4wd, agree that traction is seldom a problem when 4wd is used in a T2.
