depending to what diagnostic plug you have, I've got obd11 type plug so easiest way to check is plug in my bluetooth adaptor fire up the software on my tablet and see if the ecu is actually getting a reading of speed, if so that eliminates the sensor and pretty much upto the speedo servo motor...
