    Gauges --blow and suck.

A burst of activity today. Fitted turbo boost gauge and also vacuum gauge in twin pod on dashboard shelf and a modified TERRAIN meter in seperate housing.(A bit of a gimmick but ---- what the heck! Won't stop a roll-over but it would still work upside-down. 8) ) Had to remove intercooler to fit...

    air flow meter confusion

Regret can't help with types and part numbers but just wondering why you need one. Is yours completely U/S? Just asking because lots ditch them thinking they are banjaxed only to find later that cleaning sensor elements can cure many ills. Perhaps you have already been down that road-----???

    Glowplug operation

Hi again wizard 101. Sorry for delay in this follow up. I too was surprised that my glow plug ind light only stayed on for 3 to 4 secs. and engine needed plenty of cranking if I tried immediately after light extinguished. Also, engine was smokey and erratic when it did cough into life. Tried a...

    poor performance

Sounds like same symptoms as I once had--cause was dirty MAF sensor . Cleaned mine with meths on small soft brush and it worked wonders. I once had simular problem caused by accelerator sender. However, this gave a warning on the engine management light, the MAF problem didn' t show a warning...

    Winter must be over.

Summer can't be too far away because the LC display on my factory fit radio /casette is creeping back into life. It hibernates each winter. Any hints about helping it to stay awake ?

    Second battery

Hi Steve. Starting with the last part of your post ; it's always easier to call in the experts ; downside is that they usually need payment  No job satisfaction there either. Seems that maybe what you are seeking is increased CAPACITY as a larger reservoir to back up your extras when you...

    chattering relay?

Hi Ryan. Would have thought a chattering relay would have shown up pretty quickly with some lousy electrical problem(s). Have had these noises on other cars and they were usually speedo cables or plastic bits resonating at certain engine or car speeds. Once it was a dried up holly leaf stuck in...

    Dash Lights

Puzzled about measuring the charging AMPS . Could this be VOLTS ? :?

    Nissan Supercharger

I'm with JACE on this one all the way; especially his comment on the turbo action. Comparisons with powered blowers are not valid; this isn't powered. It can only cause drag because it has to be driven.

    Glowplug operation

Hi wizard101. Most Terrano / Mav glow plug INDICATOR LIGHTS glow for only 3 to 4 seconds. Why do you mention the subject? Are you having starting problems?

London mayor slaps £25 charge on gas guzzlers

It is believed that the energy needed to PRODUCE a new car FAR outweighs the energy its more efficient ,newer, engine saves in fuel against that of an older car in its first couple of years life. I note that the Chelsea tractor in the article is a shiny new BMW. How much energy (carbon footprint...

    coolent level

Might pay to hold on a bit and think over the proceedure for checking coolant level. You might not have a problem at all. Check coolant when motor is cold and it usually stays about the midway mark. Which is where it should be. When the engine gets hot the coolant "expands" into the reservoir...

    The Ultimate Caravan ?

How the other half live    Bet that caravan's a bundle of laughs with sidewinds 8O

    Colander Terrano!

Another colander Terrano ! Hi harajack. Glad to hear you had success with rear door leak. I had same problem and cured it with black mastic using same method as you. If you read back through the "water in passenger footwell" threads (you probably have already) you will see that I, and others...

    Wheel Spacers (T2)

Hi Jace. The Ebay units I saw were only about £16 a pair, just disc type spacers nothing more. Perhaps the spacers Bluebull had were the more business-like and more costly items which actually fit onto the existing studs and come with extra wheel bolts with the kit. This way the maths would be OK.

    Wheel Spacers (T2)

Saw some 10mm spacers on ebay. Emailed supplier to ask if they are suitable for T2 and if they needed longer studs. Reply was that they should be suitable and longer studs should not be needed. (Please note the "SHOULD"s---nothing positive ).Found this unreassuring. Went to my waggon and checked...

    Wheel Spacers (T2)

Hi GoonerCarp. Perhaps there is a bit of cosmetic appeal but I am more interested in counteracting the top-heavy characteristic of the waggon. Seems to me that by spreading its feet a bit wider apart it will be a bit more footsure. Not talking about much, just perhaps 10mm per wheel so long as it...

    Smashed windscreen

Ditto. Mine cracked across the bottom--more or less where the screen defrost outlets are.It was perishing cold day and I warmed the engine up then put the blower on full to clear the screen. Ice on the INSIDE ! A friend who knows about glass says it looks like a thermal stress fracture.That...

    Water in transmission systems---How come?

TOMMO and JACE. Thanks for the info and tips. That's the great benefit of being a member. Someone's always got the knowledge. Had a quick look under there already and can see the breather pipes. The things which I saw on diagrams were obviously the adaptors to fasten hoses to. Shall...

    Water in transmission systems---How come?

I have read a few horror stories about what happens to axles, gearboxes, tranfer boxes etc when water gets in during "significant" wading. There are often floods or mighty big puddles in country areas which I regularly travel into. When surfing through all this water I often think about these...
