heartbroken and sorry to you all .....the story

Hello Briggie. Hang on in there. These motors are reckoned to be bomb proof as far as major engine parts go. I know it may seem ludicrous but it could be the same knocking as I had with my first Terrano. It turned out to be one of the belts; don't know which one; I just sprayed the lot with...

    Axle Stand Loading

My T2 was once perched on 4 of them whilst I checked 4WD, free wheel hubs etc. Looked a bit hairy but felt solid as a rock (not NORTHERN ROCK:augie) Sat in it ; all wheels spinning but didn't travel far.:doh Better half said she would send for men in white coats if she ever saw me do it...

    Clock not lighting up

Hi. I used to think my clock lights were u/s but realised that they are on whenever the ignition is turned on . Can't see them during daytime; they are not bright enough, when it's dark it's a different kettle of fish. Switching sides/heads on has nothing to do with clock light ; but perhaps you...

    Code reading

Hi everyone. Hope the price of diesel isn't getting anyone down ! I am toying with the idea of obtaining something to connect to the 14 pin grey OBD socket in order to read codes easily. I don't have any indicated problems but perhaps there is something which could store readings of past...

    Where Is Everyone Tonight?????

Hi JT, Chaster here. You mentioned a virtual beer. :naughty The Doc has put me on a "no alcohol" for three months sentence. ----Something to do with liver testing:augie (Think he found some blood in my red wine stream):augie. Hope he can actually find a liver in there somewhere :)...

    Central locking

Hi Hunter and welcome as the flowers in spring (if it ever comes) I had the same problems with my 02 plate from the time I picked it up last year. Went round ALL door locks and squirted WD40 via the little red tube into EVERY keyhole , any orifices near door locks any slits near...

Water dripping from overhead switch panel.

Water in overhead switches Many thanks for the hints and tips everyone. Lacrouped----I found the sill cavities you described. Blasted out with water jet and poked with wire. Lots of crud in there despite my previous jetting.:clap Also had a look at the sunroof seal. Just as you said ; water...

Water dripping from overhead switch panel.

Yes; you've guessed it :thumbs Usual problem of blocked sunroof drains. Did all the "dynorodding" and stuffed enough stiffish wire down each side to reach solid stop. Wire wouldn't appear visibly anywhere:nenau Had mudflaps off and did all the usual prodding and flushing down under. Poured...

    Misfuelled. What now?

Symptoms you describe are the same as I've had with three different cars over the years. In each case , after lots of hunting and testing the fault was eventually diagnosed back to faulty starter motors. They would start OK if battery was absolutely charged to full capacity but as soon as...

    Back washer not working

Hi. Had same problem and finished up squirting WD40 into the little hole in the jet via the little red tube which comes with the can. Got to press it firmly against the jet. Suppose you could call it "backwashing" Sounds too simple to be true but it worked and all is still well a year later...

    Air Ambulance Join Countys Fundraising.!

I live in Shrewsbury, have tow bar. Glad to help anywhere around Shropshire. So long as it can be done in a day. Shropshire has an excellent BBC local radio station and they always support such events with "propaganda". I expect the same applies to many counties. If it gets off the...

    fuel prices

Happy New Year everyone ! Mine started with a mistaken shot (3 ltrs) of petrol into diesel T2 :doh Filled up with diesel so I reckoned on 3 ltrs petrol / 75 ltrs -ish of diesel. Won't repeat what I said to myself :augie. Decided to take a chance and forgo all the costs of draindown etc. Have...

    locked out of terrano

Door locks. Had same problem with door locks not working on key OR remote. Went round every lock and door handle/catch and squirted lots of WD40 into every little orifice using little the plastic tube. RESULT:clap. Noticed that after using WD40 frequently I have lost aches in finger joints. I...

Am I missing the point or something ?

As my old Dad used to say; "for every door that closes, another one shuts" ! I sympathise with Darwin. Once spent a couple of hours "just showing" a mate how to refurbish his bathroom------he turned out to be absolutely DIY useless (didn't even have tools) and I finished up doing almost...

    help please

Clutch problem I had exactly the same problem with a previous vehicle---no loss of fluid but clutch would not operate correctly. Turned out to be fluid leaking past piston in slave cylinder . Fluid did not leak visibly---simply passed back to reservoir---hence' no fluid loss but no clutch...

    Fitting an Intercooler to a 96 2.7TD

Intercooler fan 'Twas me----or at least I was one of them. Fitted it to my 98 T2 and it made it far more lively when setting off after ticking over for a period in traffic jams etc. No noticeable improvement in fuel economy but a more responsive motor.
