    88 degree thermostat

A bit of a bump... I'm thinking of putting and 88C thermostat in my X reg 2.7TDi Terrano. My new commute involves 30 minutes of motorway driving. Would the new stat help with either MPG (I'm going to start running a veg/rape seed/sunflower oil mix) or help with the longevity of the engine? The...

Installation of CB Radio to Maverick

Thomas-the-Terrano2 - Yep it's a Firestick, got it from 4x4CB the last one they had in stock. 5ft, pre-tuned - gave me an SWR of less than 1.4:1. No one round here uses CBs though, so it's a bit of a moot point.

Installation of CB Radio to Maverick

I've got an '00 Terrano and fitted my CB in the hole/pocket/thingy infront of the gear stick: Wired into the fuse panel and managed to run the coax down the passenger side completely hidden behind panels and under carpet, I'm using a 5ft Firestik mounted on the spare carrier:

    Pollen filter??

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I had one or not - at least now I know why I can't find it! I'm waiting for a radio surround coming (so I can put a DIN standard stereo in) so I'll take it all to pieces in one go and have a good look. Thanks.

    Pollen filter??

I don't have air-con, does this make a difference? Took the glove box, bit of trim near the door and the metal cross bar but there is just a plastic pipe. I couldn't see any levers, would I need to remove the centre console/dash area?

    Pollen filter??

Sorry to post in an old thread, but I though it would be better than starting a new one. My Terrano (X reg SWB TDi) isn't blowing much from the vents. The long vent that blows on the windscreen might as well not be there, however, the two directional side ones blow out really well. Also, the...

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

Got it sorted at the garage today and while it was in I asked them to change all the fluids (engine, transmission and diffs) and they discovered water in the front diff, the oil was emulsified. I don't know how long its been in there. Its been changed and I haven't had any problems before or...

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

Cheers for the quick replies, I'll take it to my local garage. I'm guessing its a fairly simple job and shouldn't take more than an hour?

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

There doesn't seem to be anything broke, I think if I tighten the nuts tops and bottom of the bolt it will be fine - I just wondered if it was normal to be that loose.

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

    I've put a red box around the bolt that is loose, hope it gives a better idea of what I mean;

    Clanging noise from stabiliser/lower link

I've been hearing a clunking/clanging noise coming from my front drivers wheel area. I've recently installed bigger wheels and tyres and though they were rubbing on the inside of the arch - but it turns out they are not. While myself and a friend were bored today at work we had a look. The bolt...

    Another tyre size question...

That is a very cool looking DIY snorkel. I have been looking at putting a snorkel on and it seems pretty easy, but do I need to worry about the intercooler? That big scoop on the front is bound to get some water in, is it the end of the world if it does?

    Another tyre size question...

So we ground the seam off with an angle grinder and there is no rubbing now. I went to do some shooting yesterday and had to drive through some mud and a large puddle so some pictures were took; Didn't do anything too serious, but it handled what I did do with no problem at all - I'm...

    Another tyre size question...

Fitted my four wheels this morning, there is still some slight rubbing - but its drivable. I'm going to attack it with a hammer and chisel and bend the seam around a little. So here it is:

    Another tyre size question...

I put one of my new wheels on the spare carrier and it just fits, a few MM of clearance with the rear step. Darwin how much modifying did you have to do to the back of the front wheel arch, if any?

    Another tyre size question...

So I took my Terrano to a local garage who seemed fairly competent and the have installed some +2" springs to the back, re-indexed the torsion bars and lifted the front so its about 1.5" lower than the back. It cost me 4 hours labour as the torsion bars were rusted in and cost me £140 inc. VAT...

    Another tyre size question...

I live in Radcliffe, North Manchester. Do you mean Stockport Garage, Reddish Road?

    Another tyre size question...

I tried some more over the last couple of days, I can't get it any higher I have run out of adjustment on the torsion bars. So I removed the adjustment bolt to have a go at re-indexing the bars and the were stuck solid, the adjusters moved about an inch. So I've decided to take it to a garage...

    Another tyre size question...

Cheers fellas, I think I (we) will re-index the torsion bars, that way I should be able to get an extra inch or so lift (It still not level with the back, another inch should make it level) and that extra inch should mean less hammering. Also, when taking out the torsion bars, do they come...
