I've been having problems with my air vents. When the heating is turned up full there's a strange egg smell. Went to a garage and they said it's the pollen filter. But where is the filter and how do I change it? Thanx

have a look in the down loads, it's a very easy job to do. and it will make a difference, well mind did, :lol :thumb2

it's "under cabin" filter, 5th down the list

I had a similar problem, since we haven't got a pollen filter, I narrowed it down to the windscreen washer fluid.
The water ends up draining past the air intake for the interior.

Take the lid off the screen wash and waft it with your hand.
Don't stick your nose in there and take a lung full.

H2S + H2O = has the right compounds to make H2SO4

ie Hydrogen Sulphide + Water = Sulphuric acid.

It could of course be the battery is dying.:nenau

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Rustic

Sorry to post in an old thread, but I though it would be better than starting a new one.

My Terrano (X reg SWB TDi) isn't blowing much from the vents. The long vent that blows on the windscreen might as well not be there, however, the two directional side ones blow out really well.
Also, the knob that allows you to switch which vents the air comes out of doesn't seem to do much, if anything.
I've looked to try and remove the pollen filter, but I can't find it under the dash - my Terrano looks different from the photos I've seem for the pollen filter removal tutorial. Will it have one?

Any ideas as to what's wrong, or what I could check next?

Thanks.

there are all rigid pipes behind the dash.

the flap to get air from out side or inside if BEHIND the glove box as is the filter. you need to REMOVE the glove box to get at either.. the levers can come apart and not work..

if you got aircon Im sure woull have one...

I don't have air-con, does this make a difference? Took the glove box, bit of trim near the door and the metal cross bar but there is just a plastic pipe.

I couldn't see any levers, would I need to remove the centre console/dash area?

No air con = no pollen filter.

If the controls are the same as on the early models, you'll need to take the centre console out, unscrew the control unit and pull it out, then trace the offending control wire. It's probably just pulled out of the unit so you may well see it dangling. If everything is in place there the problem may be at the other end, which is more difficult to get at.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I had one or not - at least now I know why I can't find it!

I'm waiting for a radio surround coming (so I can put a DIN standard stereo in) so I'll take it all to pieces in one go and have a good look.

Thanks.

that pollen filter

this cracks me up, rang nissan today, "yes mistral does have one, its behind the glovebox"
"No its friggin not"
then
"it does not have one"
"of course it does, its got aircon and all the symptoms of a blocked filter"
"Sorry sir you will have to bring it in and let us sort it for you"
"How long will it take?"
"cant tell you sir, but as it is behind the glove box the job should take 4 hours"
???????????????????????????
am I being stupid or - is it time to vow to never buy an import again?
