at times I need to leave the engine running to charge batteries and run additional loads when I am some distance from the truck. it will be interlocked so it can't be moved without the key being in.

I am designing a circuit to keep the engine running without the key in the ignition. I have it all worked out except the immobiliser. Does it detect the key chip other than at engine start. Has anyone any experience of this?

Correct:thumb2 I fitted manual hubs on mine and the light goes off when you move the lever into 2H hubs locked or unlocked.

The noise may well be the auto hubs but this will make no difference to engaging/disengaging 4WD as this is all done by the transfer box.

Just got back from a day playing on Salisbury plain. Some lovely lanes up there, just a bit too dry and dusty at the moment.

Had to go through the wheel arch to undo the bolts but lifted out through the engine bay. Tie string to the end of the starter as its easier to hold and lift out vertically. You may need to let some of the cable/pipe clamps go to give a bit more room.

I carry tined food, water, cooker with pans & Kettle. Brew kit. First aid kit, Recovery gear, Jump leads, Torch, snow chains, snow shovel, blankets, sleeping bag, warm clothes and toolkit. CB and Amateur radio fitted.

If you set the heater to the vent position they blow hot. if not selected they blow cold. You should be able to close them off. if not take the surround out and fit new foam rubber where the vent fits into the pipe. This joint is where the cold air leaks from.

Permanant 4WD 4X4's have a centre differential that allows the front axle to rotate at a different speed to the rear axle. Terrano's don't have this so when you use 4H or 4L you are locking the two axles together. This is better off road but much worse on road. 4WD only on the slippery stuff(...
