    Waxoyl the inside sills

50% waxoil and 50% waste oil mixed is far better than just waxoil. It doesn't tend to block up your spray gun and it don't come off very easily because it doesn't completely dry up and crack. I sprayed it on parts of my boat trailer last year which gets submerged in the sea every weekend and...

    Which engine?

Hi Guys, I'm thinking of updating my T2 2.7TDI and wondering what the benefits of staying with the 2.7 or going for a 3.0L?. I see they carried on making terranos with the 2.7 engines during and after the launch of the 3.0 models?? I don't know anything about the 3.0L models, I tow a...

    clunk crack from steering column

O.K - Finally got round to this. I removed the covers either side of the steering wheel and low ad behold there lurking was the bit of metal you guys told me about just lurking inside loose. It took me 5 minutes fishing it out :clap but not before many horn blowing episodes causing all sorts...

    clunk crack from steering column

I didn't know which section this peculiar issue should come under so forgive me if it should be somewhere else. :doh A few weeks ago I was aware of a loud clicking noise just below the steering wheel when making large turns. Over time it got worse with more clicking / clunking snapping noises...

    Handbrake drum advice

LOL - Although we laugh at this - there are people out there who will see this, think what a wonderfull idea and try it :eek:

    Handbrake drum advice

Your eye takes about 300 milliseconds to respond to a foreign object once the object comes into contact with an eyelash, way way to slow. If you see a spark comming towards your pupil then it has already hit your eye ball before you have even acknowledged it and you blink in response to the...

    Handbrake drum advice

I see people like you in A&E quite often. I am familiar with with the tools you have mentioned and horrified by the fact you don't use goggles whilst angle grinding. There are methods of carrying out these tasks in safety and I would like to think we on this forum have a responsibility to...

    Handbrake drum advice

Good post about the rust/wear lip stopping the ...... but the next bit horrifies me :eek::eek::eek: I actually know someone who only has part of his right hand and his thumb and two fingers remaining because he took a guard off an angle grinder - it sends a shiver down me even now - lets...

    gearbox oil

It depends where you are using the vehicle, for colder climates there is a requirement for thinner oil to compensate for viscocity. It's also not good to go too thin either.

    gearbox oil

Thicker oil is not good for your gearbox. Why is there so much oil in the gearbox, surely half a pint is enough to go round the whole gear train or even use grease? Have you noticed how hot the gearbox gets? it's not heat from the engine, it is heat generated by the friction of the...

    Gearbox problems!!

Maybe you've come to the wrong forum to discuss these troubles you have..... the gearbox is the least of your worries ;)

    Gearbox problems!!

They are noisy gearboxes anyway, even a reconditioned box I had for mine has a whine in 3rd and 5th gear. It's one of those situations where you just have to keep an eye....:doh... an ear on it and see how bad it gets or how much you have to turn up the radio. Now that you know it's there you...

    Cracked windscreen

It's got 12months M.O.T - I wonder if I could live with the crack right across the screen and scrap it next year?

    filter change

And don't forget - the amount of oil spilled in this process is directly proportional to the cost of the drive it gets spilled on. :lol:lol:lol

    Cracked windscreen

Apparently rust at anypoint where the windscreen is bonded, can cause the screen to crack. The problem is getting a good butchers at it and having some time to sort it out whilst the windscreens out. I don't think Mr Autoglass is going to be happy to sit about whilst I get the tools out...

    Cracked windscreen

Hmmm this does not sound good at all :eek::eek::eek: There is a hold ( tin worm ) in the pannel under the area about 6 inches away about 3" in diameter but the metal between this hole and the windscreen is intact.

    Cracked windscreen

Hi all, I bought my Terrano in May 5 years ago and it had a crack in the windscreen starting 5 inches from the bottom nearside corner projecting upwards about 9 inches then over across towards the centre of the drivers view. I had Autoglass in to replace the screen but exactly the same...

    Passenger Footwell Water Leak

Oldish post I know but I may be able to shed some more light on this. Tonight I found why my passengers footwell is wet. I lifted the plastic trim under the windscreen and found 2 holes where the tin worm had been eating. This means water from the windscreen has been trickling under the trim...

I did modify mine - works now after a lot of fiddling about - it was probably easier to buy the resistor pack:doh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpfFbdinNRI
