Ok

Simple to change fuel filter.

However

How the hell you get to the oil filter...

Cant even find a socket or spaner to undo drain plug.

Are you saying oil drain plug?

Standard Metric socket:nenau

Changing oil filter, best done through near side wheel arch, plenty of threads on this...

I just used my 1/2" ratchet to undo the sump drain plug and the oil filter I removed from underneath with a band filter remover, the ones with the indented straps that tighten around the filter

Best removed when the engine is lukewarm, 30 mins after a drive, put something underneath the car as well in case you drop the filter full of oil like I almost did :doh

And don't forget - the amount of oil spilled in this process is directly proportional to the cost of the drive it gets spilled on. :lol:lol:lol

I have always used a Half inch drive wrench bar.

Mines got a 14mm headed sump plug, diffs and gearbox are 1/2 inch square.

I too thought cross purposes here, they assumed gear box or diff drains that use a 1/2" drive ..

Engine oil sump has hexagon bolt, so AF socket required of the right size... can't recall size..:doh

Mine doesn't :nenau maybe the TD's were different, 1/2" drive to remove mine

some do have the sump key type fitting but don't know if that's a genuine part.
all the ones I have owned have had a hex bolt head on the sump.
this current one is from milners as I changed the bolt and washer when I did the service.

Thats the ones :thumb2

Before I did the filter conversion for glass filter and primer bulb I used to leave it in situe on the filter done up tight for the next time it was due to be replaced

Have you got the room to use that type of filter tool :nenau

'bout the only one you can easily used from above. I reach down the back of the engine and slip the belt part around the filter and then tighten her up. Once the seal is broken, it's fairly easy to undo by hand and then drop, sorry carefully lift out, from the engine and replace with a shiny new one. Remember to fill the new one with clean oil before fitting.

Oil filter change, what's the problem :nenau:nenau

Oh...2.7 :lol:lol:lol
