    Rust prevention, better than cure.

Yep - really good advice there - when I took mine off I discovered that it was the plastic trims holding it all together :eek: Scrape and clean down and loads of waxoyl later and there we have it :augie psychologically waxoil repairs the damage so we don't have to worry about it anymore...

    Clutch damper pipe

I still have the pipe on mine..... but totally unrelated mine started making a whirring noise when I let the clutch go in neutral . Over the next few months it got worse and worse and eventually had to change the gearbox.:( These boxes are well known for input shaft bearing failure which...

Mine does it too - very frustrating and never got to the bottom of it. Sometimes it locks all the doors when you key the ignition. Grrrrrrr

    Fuel lines +???

Hi all, I replaced the fuel lines from the tank to half way down the truck and determined the top two are the fuel feed and return.:thumb2 There is a 3rd line which is the back brake line :thumb2 so what is the other one for? it comes all the way from the front of the vehicle and just seems...

    Wet Boot

The carpet in the boot is holding about 10 gallon of water :eek: The door seal around the back door looks good and I had the boot floor welded and undersealed earlier this year so there are no holes there. It seems to happen after the heavens open which is pretty much what we've...

    door dropped a bit

It's the lower hinge - Put a jack with block of wood under the fully open door to take the weight. Take out the bolts one at a time on the botom hinge and slip a washer on each bolt between the hinge and door frame, tighten bolts back up . This will lift the door so that the striker plate is...

Rust!!!! The rust worm!!! Arrgh!!!!:eek::eek::eek: It's a never ending attack! Even doing a simple job yesterday of renewing the fuel lines, rust was raining down on me constantly. It gets in your hair, down the back of your jumper :( .... and why is it that when you just slip...

electric windows not working, 99 terrano II

Sometimes you've got to just sit back with a cup of tea :thumbs.... and think of the simple things .... we can easily get lead to some of the most complex theories and conclusions only to find that after you've stripped the engine down looking for that random noise ..... that all along it was a...

    Fog light,headlight help

Yes ....Take out the rear light units and have a look at the wires, they tend to rub agianst the metalwork, the pvc wears through and the wire shorts to chassis blowing the fuse. :( This is also a good opportunity to spray down into the box section - with a torch you can almost see all the way...

    Heater control repair

The thinner part of the film is actually a safety feature, it is designed to go open circuit (fuse) if too much current is drawn from the motor. In this case It has probably gone open with age and current surges from being switched on and off over the years. If you solder across it then it will...

electric windows not working, 99 terrano II

Bird? What the hell are you on about?

    Heater control repair

Only problem is that solder is lower resistance so making the circuit lower in resistance and so the current increases putting more strain on the rest of the ageing resistor film. It may well go again in another part of the resistor in a month or two :(

electric windows not working, 99 terrano II

For some reason the motor worm drive ceases as there is no electrically switched end stop - basically they go and go until they can go no more and that's when the window is all the way up. Sometimes they are wound up so tight against the worm drive that they jam and the initial reverse...
