Fairysnuff
Good luck tomorrow, nothing worse than hydraulic fluid running up your arms

yes yes yes we get that and logics suggests that to. iv a 2 year old clutch and a growl when pressing the pedal so im hopeing a new damper pipe will cure it im not expecting the noisy release bearing to be cured but odd some one elses bearing only started to rattle after blanking it off.

iv copper brake pipe and fitting in the garage will see if they fit tomorrow but looking at the old damper pipe it could be either 8mm or even 10mm pipe

It's 8mm. :thumb2

im likeing that fix bit more sturdy thank just blanking off the old pipe. also makes sense of the fixing bracket where the original slave flexi hose bolts to.
checked my copper pipe no 8mm

I used that bracket to zip-tie the new rubber hose to.
It just coincides with the female metal end of the hose, it'll become clear once you're under the truck.:doh

that bracket looks like its purpose cut for that pipe to fit into with a stanard u clip to hild it in place.

getting some 8mm copper pipe tomorrow from local factors and making a new damper pipe just to see if it makes much or any difference at all

Are you going to use the old bleed point at the rear, let me know how you get on as its too cold for me to be working on the truck at the moment :lol:lol :thumbs

well its all cleaned up working as i reconnected it yesturday but its no longer attached to the chassis looks like originally there was a 10mm bolt holding it to the chassis i can see it broken off still in place so plan will be to relocate it i read some one else did on here.

Have you got the tool to flare the copper pipe ?? When I removed mine I just ripped a section out so when I tried to reconnect it I had to use a bit of copper pipe and a 8mm compression fitting but it wouldn't seal to the original steel pipe so like you said will have to replace the full thing. Wish I'd just left it alone :doh

I still have the pipe on mine..... but totally unrelated mine started making a whirring noise when I let the clutch go in neutral . Over the next few months it got worse and worse and eventually had to change the gearbox.:( These boxes are well known for input shaft bearing failure which gets noisy. Some have said the bearing can totally disintegrate and bits damage something else in the box.

I exchanged my box for a recon from David Beumont 4x4 and three years later all is still well.

They've gone to alot of effort to manufacture a pipe and put it there so it must be needed :nenau

yes i have a flairing tool handy little thing it is to i replaced some rotten brake pipes a while back cut it back to good pipe made new and connected it and i thought my days of doing these jobs on car ended in my twenties lol

quick update what a wasted day only managed to get the 8mm copper pipe local factors didnt have the correct unions in stock and didnt know which ones i needed so plan tomorrow is to remove the old damping pipe and reuse the old unions.
i did manage to remove the rear bleed off unit it just snapped off with litte effort cleaned up a treat.

tomorrow is another day upside tho loads of this stuff on ebay much cheaper than factors.

yes i have a flareing tool very handy addition to the tool kit

right finally got this sorted today. took what was left of the old pipe off made up the new pipe and refitted bled it all out and................................................................................... what a difference to clutch operation it is again very light at the pedal the growl i was getting when depressing and releasing the clutch pedal has gone the noisey bearing is still noisey didnt expect that to be any different but its a bit quieter.

so disconnecting it is a good temp fix if your original pipe leaks but replacing it with a new pipe is even better.

will try and do a proper write up later with pics

Good stuff, as I said it is there for a reason and mine is going back on Friday :thumbs
